No, I was thinking of the boats they ran for the introduction in Miami and then at Parker. I thought I had good color pictures of them in my file, but apparently I do not. :(

Tonight we are guests up at the top of Monteagle, TN.
Drove by the old OMC factory in Calhoun, GA
The highway sign is still there.

What did that plant do?
Powerheads. The first (1986) V6 225 HP 2.7 liter 90 degree looper was built there. Lots of quality problems the first few years in Calhoun.
So nice to stop by at Kuttawa, KY and Hu-B's marina.
A weekend full of fun in front us.
Yes, Wayne the owner sell new Evinrude E-TEC.

All these 2.0 litre OMC outboards ran the V4 clubfoot lower unit but 2yrs later at Brugge we had a Cougar outfit with the same engine that ran with a 1 to 1 lower unit in sprint races it was around 12 MPH faster than these outfits.I can remember Bob Hering in 1977 when he left Mercury to race for OMC and first drove the 2.5 crossflow outboards when he came to Brugge the first question he asked is where are the 1 to 1 lower units.
This is from the 1976 Johnson sales brochure when the production 200 V6 2.448 liter cross flow was introduced.

2 weeks before at the Paris 6 hr race I think Beard had to run aV4 engine when his 2.0 cross flow engine failed in practise and in 1975 Sanders& Posey ran the 2.0 cross flow engine and in 1976 it ran a 2.0 litre looper engine not bad 4 different power units. But it never ran a 2.5 cross flow engine.
Brutal Formula 3 crash. The #10 boat is Ernst Reto. Its the later Evinrude (31) F3 engine from OMC.
My guess is around 1990. A very good reliable race motor.
This was in my opinion the best boat racing class ever.
Thanks Oliver Keuth for another great picture.

My #1 Formula 3 Class Burgess/Diamanthuset/Evinrude CC.
Home made one pinion gearcase and methanol power..!!
This photo album makes me smile again.
The World Championship race in Drammen, Norway 1982
Won the race..not even the two F3 boats powered by the 6 cylinder Konig could keep up with my hot Evinrude engine. Well..some rooster tail spray from my boat slowed them down in the turns..
The party with my OMC friends that made the win possible turned out pretty crazy..
I still remember what OMC´s..Ric McChesney and Jim Nerstrom did to me..
Easy to smile now..but not 6 a clock in the morning..the day after.
Very good memories..

Back in the good old days when OMC was promoting Evinrude Outboards. You could proudly wear your World Champion Evinrude Racing Jackets and hats.
Even go to a NASCAR race and see a race car leading Daytona 500 with the Evinrude logo.
To bad those days are gone.

In the beginning of 1998 I got a phone call from the OMC headquarter in Waukegan, Illinois. David Jones the President of OMC was asking for me.
I sent a short resume to OMC and received the attached letter a few weeks later.
My appointment to meet with David Jones was set to June 16 1998.
Carina and I took our American Eagle motorhome with matching trailer to Waukegan and the OMC headquarter. The security guard was informed and we must be one of few being allowed to park inside the fence in front of OMC and camp out. We stayed there a few days.
The meeting with the President David Jones was extremely interesting. At that time not many people know OMC was struggling big time.
Mr. Jones hired me as a consultant.
Mainly to figure out a way to make OMC do better in Europe. I flew to Norway for meetings a few times and traveled to many dealers and asked their opinion about OMC. Most dealers was still very optimistic about OMC and I put together a long plan for OMC what they needed to do/what was wrong in Northern Europe.
My mistake was to give my plan to the person responsible for sales outside the US and not directly to David Jones.
A major conflict was now in full force because he did not like my report.
Pretty soon I learned the big corporation personal conflict and I did not need that.
I called David Jones and told him I am out.
I already know at that time there was no way to save OMC the way it was run.
I also got contacted by the Roger Penske group. Penske was interested buying OMC. I told them what I know and was on the list if a deal was possible to do.
Penske backed out for many reasons and that was sad. I strongly believe Penske could have saved OMC.
Yes, it is Ric McChesney and Carina in the first picture.

Agreed on Penske. I'm a fan.
I remember when he tried to buy the failing Saturn car company.
He said between union contracts and EPA fees, no thanks
He he would have been the perfect savior and they would, now have a Hi Perf division.
Got this picture from a friend in Italy today. Great memories from Idroscalo, Italy 1983.

And he did!
Felt like I won the lottery
Sent me a b.d. card too, which to this day, is on the wall of my shop.
I got some pretty special Caesari Scotti pictures from a friend if mine (the two first) Remember when I first meet C. Scotti during the ON World Championship race in Skokloster, Sweden 1972.
The two following pictures is C. Scottis #9 Scotty/Evinrude V4 boat at the race in Skokloster, Sweden. Also the entry list for the race. Many big names was there.
