My dad had an old '78 Allison Bassboat, he said Darris didnt' put carpet in them then, but it was a hot rod then as well:D. I wish he had that old Allison and his old Bullet:(
Laker that ol SST will rip if you restore her right and hang da big power on her tail. That hull was the first "ol fishin bote" to ever break 100!!!
100 in dat style hull, can you say balls that clank?
RA
ps
Check out a few SST owners on the Allisonowners website under "older hulls". There are a few still around.
You just went through the most dangerous time of your life. Don't try to surpass that by overpowering that thing. Red Allison is right that was the first bass hull to run a 100 mph. BUT! That was Benny Roberson and there is no telling how many times he got thrown out trying to do it. To me that hull was the begining of the the real high performance bass huls. RA also was telling you the truth about the clankers. Put one of your guys v4's on it and set it up right and it will be sweet. PS I still owe you a beer or 40 at the Rumble. Thanks Sgt!
Laker, don't beleave all that B.S!I had one with a 81'Merc.225 on it it drove good--would get a little bow-high It ran just over 90 without a good nose cone.I just got one for my nephew to fish out of.Put his 75 Merc.on it and it's running right at 50 with a load in it.Boats ride pretty good to be as narrow as they are.Set the motor back at 8"-10"and it drives fine.Let me know if I can help with any set-up.BTW,Welcome Back! I've heard from some people that the boat can hook if you come off the gas after being on plain.
is this true?
Then your answer is hell yes !!!!!!!!!!!
so how do you keep it from doing that?
and never let off. Just go WFO forever. Have Laker figure out a way to pull up along side for in-flight refueling and you'd be good to go !!!!!!!!!!!!
