The Apache Warpath 41, hull #001 built in 1984, was the first 41-foot deep-V from Apache Powerboats. Co-founded by Bobby Saccenti and Ben Kramer, it used a Don Aronow mold and won the 1984 APBA World Championships in brutal seas, hitting 100+ mph—this victory defined Apache’s race-proven legacy. Pre-1987 Apaches are the only “originals,” handcrafted under Kramer’s direct control: raw and pure. In 1987, Kramer was arrested for drug smuggling; the government seized Apache, including molds and assets. Mark McManus revived production with modern materials and designs. Purists reject post-1987 boats as diluted “clones,” lacking original tooling, ethos, and Kramer-era authenticity—only pre-1987 models like Warpath carry true Apache DNA.
