What is the optimum fuel pressure for a V6 Mercury with wmv-22 carbs. Want to run a electric fuel pump with adjustable regulator. Looked in many manuals and can't find what fuel pressure should be. Thanks

I believe 4-6 psi is correct for just about all carb motors. Any more and you can push the needle off the seat.
ran 6 ta 7/8 on our BP's, oval ports (20's, 22's 46's) and 245's (wmv's with and without pumps) no problems but 90% of run time was with both feet on tha floor.. but agree with 4 ta 6 will work..
Thanks, I was thinking 4to6 psi, just wanted to know what others have been running. I was thinking that more than 7 may blow the needles off the seats like was stated by the replies. Thanks for the input
have some friends run as low as 3lbs (bone stock 2.4's/2.5's) without problems.. so there's that!
I run WMV carbs at full pressure of a 7psi aero flow pump I think it's called.
Vane pump and horribly noisy.
It sits on the floor and pushes fuel up through a Sierra water separator under the cowl, then past a gauge and into the carbs.
At idle the pressure is over 7psi
It's a red pump
I run a red Holley fuel pump with the shims removed from the bypass valve. This gives me 4-5 psi without a regulator.
I bought a cheapo MR Gasket dial fuel regulator and just adjusted it back till the needle seated and it stopped drooling out the carbs. Have read a lot of people run the carter fuel pumps, less money and only put out 4-5 psi.

I'd imagine unless your really spinning up the rpm's, the stock diaphragm pump works just fine
No one has asked or mentioned oil pump. If your not pre mixing oil and using stock oil pump you need to set at 2 or 3 lbs. More can/will starve mix of oil.
If that dial reg or flow valve is a chrome thing with a large dial type knob, then it won't flow enough to run a 2.5 at 6500rpm.
Motor will be lean at 6000
All my stuff is premixed, don't trust oil injection
