Sad thing is sourcing the materials, manufacturing, usage, and end of life issues with all these batteries hurts the environment also.
No doubt electric propulsion has a place in the marine world but not for the boats you see on these pages.

The battery weight will depend on your desired range. And maybe not an Allison, but an LCB has a lot more area within the CG for extra weight while being able to stay on the running surface in comparison. Efficient hulls will benefit exponentially.
Range is a simple calc, multiply your gas weight by say 20x and theres your eqivilent electric range, then you have to fit that in your boat and volume difference is about 5x.Quote:

For racing....Cool idea. Battery cells can be swapped after every pull so weight and capacity can be reduced big time. Hell, if you can pull 1000amps for 10 seconds from a 100 amp hr lifepo4 thats all you need. Swap it out and go again. For a bass boat or river runner....nah, itll be a while before we see enough efficiency for that.
Will be a nice project for Merc, they will find out they need to be in the battery business to make an electric powertrain work
