Porche Panamera vs. Dodge Charger Hellcat ,,,

the Princess is angling for a new ride, I love the shape of the Panamera, but thinking of repair costs down the line as we tend to not trade out cars like toothbrush's :nonod: I'm a Mopar Freak from my earliest memories from my family's upbringing. ( have a near pristine 64 Chrysler 300 w/ 64,000 mi :iagree: ) one guy I spoke with said he had issues with backward visibility out of the Panamera. been renting new model cars on recent trips and have been disappointed with road noise and seat comfort. just wanted to know if any of you guys have first hand experience, thanks fun out :cool:

Why not a Challenger SRT. Plenty of power for the street. Porsche is nice too.

to small and can't carry 2 couples. I rode in a camero passenger seat with my wife behind me and my knees were on the dashboard, I'm 6'3" 200 lbs. 0n long trips I must be comfortable

The older Panamera is a spacious 2+2 not sure about the latest.

Cadillac CT6 V8 twin turbo is worth a look!

I owned a Panamera 4s for 30k miles. It’s the nicest car I’ve ever owned amongst Maserati Levante, Ghibli, Ferrari 458, Ferrari 488, Cayman S, Cayenne S, Audi R8, Z06, Tundra TRD Pro, F250 Platinum


Only car I ever liked more was a Lexus ES 350.. best riding and value car period

The Hellcat is a great Muscle Car, not a Grand Tour car. Now if they Supercharged the 300S it might be a different story.

Then the Panamera is your best bet. I’ve owned a dozen Porsche’s over the years and never bought one new, they depreciate way too much in the first 2 years. The trick is knowing which ones to shop for. Within each model there are hidden gems mostly due to the massive options list Porsche is famous for.

For example, a Panamera S can be optioned identical to a GTS and sell for 20% less. The reason, a GTS, while a great buy when new compared to a similarly equipped S has a much higher “base” price and that’s what all the used car value books use when valuing them. Options only return pennies on the dollars.

I also recommend a CPO car, they cost a bit more but you get a great factory extended warranty and they are all brought up to new car standards before they can be certified. When you go with a non Porsche resale you really don’t know what you are getting as many go through the auctions.

On the Panamera stick with 2017 or newer, 2017 was a major redesign. I’m also a big fan of the ‘GTS’ series cars, best balance of performance and cost IMHO but as pointed out above, an ‘S’, if equipped right can be a good bargain.

The Panamera is represents the state of the art in automobiles today. It uses the Volkswagen MSB platform, which is also used for the current generation Bentley Continental GT.

The Mopar uses the 2004 Chrysler LX platform, which uses some parts from the 1996 Mercedes E-class along with some sprinkles of the 1998 S-class and, of course, cost reductions to fit the Mopar price point, e.g. steel suspension part instead of aluminum. For the late nineties, the Benzes were excellent automobiles.

Let’s not get started about the engine design philosophies. In short, very few buyers cross-shop these two cars.

I know it is hard to get an American woman to consider a Cadillac, but it deserves a fair trial. So do the E63 and CLS63, which also depreciate very fast.

Here in Michigan I see more Women driving Cadillac vehicles then Men. Standard practice after a divorce seems to be a Caddy and a Boob job.

I think the Hellcat would put a bigger grin on my face.
