Paint is Phantom Black isn't it?
As for stripper I'm not sure on that, just sand it?
Phantom Black is correct as the previous poster mentioned. Why do you want to strip it? It's easier to sand it and use the original paint as your base layer.
I just thought it sounded easier to strip it. I will get the heat gun out and try and take the stickers off and then sand it though... Seems thats what is recommended.
Great info thanks!
use the wife's blow dryer:D
Don't use a stripper you will melt the plastic, Just sand carefully and use Dupont Imron black and you will never regret it, ever.
Carter Powell
DuPont Centari 99 is just as tough as Imron and not as toxic. Restored a lot of Mercs with it. Phantom Black is a lacquer based wimp.
Imron aint imron no more. Its polyurethane now
Imron used to be polyicocyanate. When did it change to polyurethane? I remember when Imron labels specified Niosh 95 masks, then something else and then finally full-up air fed suits. Used to watch these guys come into the paint store to buy Imron with dust masks on. They're all dead now.
I dont know when the switch happened but i went to buy some and found out its no longer what it was. Its basically awl grip etc all the same a super hard polyurethane epoxy now.
yep iso, all the good paint was iso. My camaro is in iso, still looks like fresh paint 25 years later
