I am looking at a center console with a pair of Mercury 300x Pro Max outboards. Tried to look up specs and all I can find is on the short shaft racing models. They have 600 hours.
Are these engines EFI, are they like the Optimax as in DI. Is the oil injection a plastic gear, etc?

Efi,but not optimax. electric oil injection pump. Probably will burn quite a bit of fuel on that

I think 300 promax and 300x are different motors

OK I found a 300 Pro Max owners manual online- says 6200 rpm max. 92 octane, shows where serial #'s are.
NADA has a 1999 XL Pro Max 300 and 2000 also. But not 2001....
I don't think they are custom stickers, rather denote a model....
Post the serial number. A 300 Pro Max is not a 300X

See if the power heads are painted black or raw,unpainted aluminum.
Ask what the compression is. The X is higher compression than the promax.

Does it have 2 computers on the back of the engine? If so it is a promax. If one computer on the side it is an x
