Resurrection of a classic Schulze Tunnel boat

Picked this up and the plan is to totally restore this to its former racing glory. Transom has never been drilled for an OMC, but was set up for a T2X with through transom trim. Will try to keep updates semi regular. Plan is to totally strip the boat top and bottom, evaluate what needs to be replaced and then tackle the repairs. Restoration will be with period correct gauges, new string steering system and Restored Mercury T2 outboard.

Even came with the original steel trailer made for the boat. It too will be restored.

Top side has at LEAST 4 different colors with a primer layer under each = 8 layers of paint. how do you spell FUN ????????I bet the paint alone weighs 50 lbs on this boat...

That is a fantastic project! The wood looks good. Please keep posting pics and progress.

it has been a CHALLENGE to get through all the paint . Only good thing about so much paint is the wood was sealed pretty damn good...

Thats the spray rail to stop water climbing up the side of that panel and deflect it into the tunnel wind !Very important to make sure all the corners need to be sharp as possible to deflect and eliminate water clinging to the hulls surface plus makes for a hull that tracks straight and true ! NO RADIUSES ANY WHERE!!

flipped over and bottom side stripping in progress. Not sure what is worse, 8 layers of topside paint of 5 layers of old varnish on the bottom....... and a cheesey repair job......

Getting the tear down 100% is where most projects die... Keep it going !!!
