Wow is that thing cut down! Not much transom to work with for Jack Plates.
Now that is boat building and custom fabrication at its finest!! I'm sure this will be a fantastic boat coming from an amazing place!.....:thumbsup:
Should be interesting. Would love to see Pete and Skater team come up something new to compete with whats out there.
This entire build is insane! Unbelievable that the owner is willing to spend almost twice as much to get the 15" 400Rs and forego any/all factory warranty on the motors. That is some dedication to this build in itself! That looks like a 368, not a 36 - and with that notch at the transom, it ends up being about 34' 6" of running surface (notch looks to be about 18" long). That's going to be an awesome big water outboard cat for sure! I can't wait to see it when I'm back there next Tuesday........
Awesome build !! Finally someone bought the correct 400's for a high performance boat instead of the 400 fishing motors. This one's gonna be nice !!! Looking forward to seeing it fly !!

Pete is proly concentrating on the cockpit, inside the bilge/transom areas, and the windshield receiver, pics would be great

Don't worry Noli, I'll get plenty of pics of everything back there. Don't know that I'm going to get every angle and detail like you're asking for - pictures aren't the reason I'm going back there, but I'll get some pics of what we'll see on the water next year.Quote:

Believe it was part of a weight saving solution.
I think they only cut down the deck and hull sides but the boat will still have same size tunnel and depth of the sponsons.
You're correct Ron, the running surfaces and tunnel dimensions of the hull remain the same as a standard, non cut-down boat. The only purpose of cutting them down so low is to reduce weight, and aerodynamic drag. I'm personally not a fan of the ultra-low cut down boats, as you still need enough depth in the cockpit and windshield (approximately 40" from the floor to the top of the windscreen) to keep the wind going over the top of the driver/passenger. What ends up happening is the windscreen looks too tall on top of the boat - in my opinion. That's what I don't like about the look of the MTI 34X - the boat is super low profile, with a huge round windshield stuck on top of it. I feel there is a happy medium between the tall standard-deck boats and the ultra cut-down boats. Pete has also built boats with the sides of the hull canted in, which also looked strange to me (not a lot have been built with that feature). But all of that is what makes Skaters so different (and "cooler" imo) than every other boat out there - no two flat deck Skaters are exactly the same! They are truly custom built to each individual buyer's desires.Quote:
