Ready for the water - for now.

Still to do (later) 1) Add the rigging hoses and get rid of rigging mess into engine. 2) Replace or cut down setback which is to high causing very difficult to get on plane. 3) Everything else that crops up.

Things done: Repair all glass damage, replace sporty, cut out bad fiberglass tanks and replace with custom fabricated ones, repair/replace bad wiring, have interior re-upholstered,
have logo's made by "StuckUp" in Toms River, buy new DragFour -- and a bunch more of small and unexpected items.

Also I'm looking for a cockpit cover -- anyone have one ??

From the picture it looks like the end of the glass tank was cut, the baffle removed, and the tank placed in there, whats holding it in? I see a tab screwed to something glassed on the hull side is there more?

That's actually an isolation pad. There are four on each side and six on the bottom all glued in with 5200.

Very nice looking boat and an interesting way to mount that new tank.

whats the holding the tank itself in place?
a fuel tank needs to be completely secure especially in a boat thats going 100mph
when people install alum tanks in boats like that its usually has bulkhead front and rear, the tank is foamed in place, and completely glassed over.
This insures it will not come loose

The 5200 adhesive has unbelievable bond strength and is still a bit flexible. Couldn't pull the tanks out if I wanted to.
I'll get to cosmetics eventually, but for now just want to get it wet.

I'm with RobF on the installation method.
You want to do the proper installation from the get go especially in a boat like that! Having nothing or very little holding the rear of it is not a good idea....:nonod:
17gls a side is probably not enough capacity for a motor like that.
I do agree with you about that setback needing attention!

keep your eye on the tanks, 5200 holding them in place with no other support is not ideal

Dont forget your ground wires to the fills

Thanks for the input, I was concerned about the capacity but didn't want to cut out more of the liner and yet another baffle since it also acts as a support bulkhead.

that baffle supports nothing, you should have cut it to gain more capacity

the baffle is entirely too thin and flexible, even on 28s , to act as any kind of structure
the part that actually offers a little structure you cut out

Well I based that statement on information gleaned from another post on here about replacing skater tanks that stated the baffles were structural.
This is a greatly informative photo. If I ever do it again I'll keep this photo in mind and proceed that way. Meanwhile, it's done and over for this one.
