Ive got a 2.4 carbed bp motor that cuts out in rough water for a split sec on impact of 2' waves or bigger... just wanting to know if it was possibly the carb floats doing something to make it drop rpm then pick up again. .

some hp motors had a slosh plate in carbs, others will chime in shortly-th
Ok im searching my memory but I remember someones boat in our shop that did this and it turned out to be the trim limit module. Just a thought. You may or may not have one.
we raced carb motors for many yrs,,,,,
3 things I found to keep em crisp in the rough
if floats are set to high fuel will splash up through the brass vent tubes into the ventura
and momentary flood the motor
so have to set them a bit lower/below level
baffles mounted in the float bowls help a lot to keep fuel from sloshing upward towards the vents
and flip the primer solenoid upside down,,,,,with the primer mounted upwards and have wave impact sometimes primer can open and add fuel
ok thanks guys ill look into all of that.....
I do have a trim limit thing on engine harness.... can I do away with it some how to elitmate that possibity.
Yes you can.

yes its like a mercury switch, liquid metal mercury, it would "splash" around and intermittently cut motor out
Ok i took the trim limit piece off and taped the wire up and out of the way... ill try it like that first. .
I had a battery switch die on me every now and then.
Trim limit switch was the problem thanks so much guys..
Yea I've got my confidence back in boat again
I have seen that switch cause issues more than once. Glad ya got it going.
