Mettawa, Ill., (May 1, 2020) – Seven different products from a number of Brunswick Corporation (NYSE: BC) brands have won a 2020 Boating Industry Top Products Award. The awards, which were officially announced today, are given to “the marine industry's best new and innovative products.”

Brunswick Boat Group won four awards; Power Products’ brands took home two awards for its digital switching and electrification products while Mercury Marine won for the launch of its largest outboard engine – the 450R. Assisting In The Race To Beat COVID-19 ▼

FOND DU LAC, Wisc. (April 14, 2020) -- Three home-bound Mercury Racing employees are using personal 3D printers to support community efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. When Steve Wynveen, a development engineering manager at Mercury Racing, learned that Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee had posted a pattern and instructions for home sewers to create cloth face masks, he discovered a way to pitch in.

"One of the more time-consuming parts to sew in this plan is folding bias tape in half and stitching it together to form the strings that loop over your ear or behind your head,” said Wynveen. “Bias tape has a bit of springiness to it because of the 45-degree weave angle. The tool we are 3D printing is a funnel that folds the tape back onto itself, so that when it exits the tool, it can be fed right into a sewing machine, or be ironed flat.”

The Brunswick Private Foundation recently made a $50,000 donation to the Red Cross and Brunswick employees around the world are making personal donations that will also be matched by the Company.

In addition, the Private Foundation donated $10,000 to the Salvation Army Metropolitan Division.

An Incredible History of Mercury V6 Engine Innovation ▼

Notice to all Diamond Marine customers,

We would like tell you some bitter sweet news, after serving the Mercury high performance outboard industry for 33 years we have decided that it was time to close up shop and retire. Through the years we had created an amazing customer base with many friendships along the way. It is hard to put a number how many boats we were instrumental in putting in the winners circle all over the world, those were the Monday morning phone calls that we always enjoyed. We want to thank all of our customers for their loyalty and support they have given us through the years it has been truly appreciated.

Now I would like to let everyone what is next for us, simply at this time we are in the process of liquidating all machinery equipment as well as a vast inventory of used parts, because of the quantity of items we have we will not be making any kind of list. If you are looking for a certain item just call us at 954-525-2600 and we will see if we can find it. For anyone that would like to come to the shop and look at our equipment and inventory all is welcome, everything must go. A Visionary Innovator of Performance Boats▼

Howard Pipkorn, the creator of HydroStream, one of the most recognizable and legendary series of performance boats, has passed away.

Pipkorn began HydoStream back in 1968 to produce high-performance race boats with design attributes that would become the genesis of his line of ultra-high performance outboard-powered hulls. He took a different approach to design, eschewing contemporary trends of hard angles and flat surfaces to experiment with sweeping, complex concave forms that were as revolutionary as they were beautiful.

New Facility Allows Mercury to Double Production of Stainless Steel Propellers ▼
FOND DU LAC, Wisc. (May 3, 2019) – Mercury Marine, the world leader in marine propulsion and technology has officially broken ground on a new 30,000 square foot addition to its propeller casting facility. When complete, Mercury’s propeller facilities total footprint will encompass 90,000 square feet. The expansion, which was officially announced during an event today, will be at Mercury’s global headquarters in Fond du Lac, will allow the company to almost double its current output for stainless steel propellers.

In total, Mercury will invest $17 million dollars to expand the propeller facility which increases the company’s overall investment to more than 1.1 billion dollars since 2008.

Since 1994, Brucato has been a recognized name in the EFI world. Tony Brucato developed the Brucato SVS, the Brucato Pro Control Unit, or “PCU”, and proprietary fuel injector cleaning and calibration technologies.

In 2005, the Brucato ACU was introduced as a more user-friendly version of the PCU, and is now known as the de facto replacement ECU for Mercury EFI engines using ProMax 'Laser' or 'horn' type injection systems (1988-2001). The Brucato ACU is a direct replacement for the Mercury ECU and has fuel curves that were developed, dialed in and perfected by Tony, himself.

A Spectacular Recovery Set In Motion by a Rigging Error ▼

In relation to boating, this is probably one of the most fascinating series of events captured on video that I have ever seen. This is an ongoing situation and I will be following up with many more details and developments. For now, have a look at what I feel is an incredible story of events.

Today I spoke with Alfred Montaner, who owns Luxury Rib Tenders, which is a company based in Miami that specializes in restoring rigid inflatable boats. His scope of talents covers seemingly every type of RIB, from yacht tenders to very high-end law enforcement types. He was taking a 36-foot Fluid 10M "Black Betty" RIB for a sea trial, which involved running the boat in the kind of conditions it was designed for. The Fluid 10M being trialed is powered by two 300HP Mercury Verado outboards, however the boat is designed to handle triple outboards, if required.

This all-original 1973 Hydrostream Vector is owned by Tim Dykstra's family, and has owned it since 1978. The boat appears to be entirely original, including the 150HP Mercury. We've seen hundreds - maybe thousands - of Hydrostreams here, but to find one this old and in this condition is fantastically rare. And, if anybody wants it, it's for sale.

Dual Mercury Marine 300hp V-8 Verado outboards will power the Axopar 37 Sun-Top boat that will tow 36-year-old Australian water-skier, Alex Luther, as he attempts to beat the world record his grandfather, Harry Luther, set in 1970. Harry Luther's record still stands today — 5,010 kilometers (3,113 miles) covered in 10 days, 5 hours, and 36 minutes.
