Official Press Release: FOND DU LAC, Wis. (Nov. 7, 2024) – Mercury Racing® in conjunction with the American Power Boat Association (APBA) today announced that the APBA Factory Stock offshore racing class will adopt the Mercury Racing 500R outboard as specified power, commencing with the 2025 racing season. The Mercury Racing 500R will replace the discontinued Mercury Racing 450R outboard in this class, and the class name will change from Factory Stock 450 to Factory Stock 500.

As we know, the V6 through the V12 - both mainline consumer products and racing versions - are all based on the same general design platform that was designed to be extensible from the beginning of development. Many of you have probably seen the models that Maquetas Lanchas Pagliettini creates for his company, MLP Replicas, which creates small replicas of the boats owned by customers. The first MLP model I saw was a HydroStream V-King that looked so close to a real boat in detail that I was immediately astonished. I'm sure you can understand how quickly that caught my attention The level of detail and variety of model boats he has created is truly impressive.

I moved from New York to Florida in 2003, and as you might imagine, I was suddenly in a completely different world. I absolutely loved it - the weather, palm trees, clear waters, and most of all, the concentration of some of the fastest boats in the country. That was a big change for me in many ways, and Andy Frost's recent passing has me reflecting on his impact on my life and on this website.

METTAWA, Ill. (February 7, 2023) - Brunswick Corporation (NYSE:BC) today named John Buelow Executive Vice President and President, Mercury Marine. John was previously Vice President, Global Operations, Mercury Marine and succeeds Chris Drees, who has decided to leave Brunswick to pursue opportunities outside the Company and the marine industry. Powerboat Drag Racing With A Focus on Accessibility and Safety ▼

When I began Scream And Fly over 20 years ago, I knew nearly nothing about powerboat drag racing and most especially, outboard-powered drag boats. I thought it was essentially a powerboat version of car drag racing, and there might be little else to distinguish them in terms of the experience of seeing and racing in outboard powerboat drag races. That notion was abruptly put to rest when I attended my first organized drag boat races, which was the Outboard Drag Boat Association World Championship races at Jasper, Tennessee in 2002.

Company Adds Manufacturing Space, Meets Global Customer Demand ▼

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (Sept. 13, 2022) – Mercury Racing, a division of Brunswick Corporation (NYSE:BC), held a ground-breaking ceremony today for its manufacturing operations plant expansion to help meet global customer demand for the company’s high-performance marine propulsion systems.

The two-phase construction project will add 40,000 square feet of manufacturing operations space to the southwest corner of the existing Fond du Lac, Wis. facility and expand the current propeller shop by 8,000 square feet on the north side of the building. The project will bring the Racing facility to nearly 150,000 square feet.
