One of the most critical aspects of every center console’s performance is at what RPM the vessel gets on plane. It is here that the Sharrow Propeller's performance is remarkable. It can be seen clearly in the charts that the boat is nearly on plane at 2500 RPM and 15.4 mph.

The conventional props tested on the Robalo R302 were stainless steel 15.25” x 19” (38.73 cm x 48.26 cm). The Sharrow props were 15.04” x 19” (38.02 cm x 48.26 cm).

As the United States returned to peace following WWII, outboard racing (which had been a rather exclusive and expensive sport with special racing motors) took a completely democratic turn. Because racers weren't getting their rigs out of mothballs quick enough, some race promoters allowed classes for regular fishing motors. The importance of trimming the engine or drive unit in a performance boat is well-known. The trim angle affects the overall running attitude of the boat, and in a high performance application, proper trimming is crucial for maximum performance and safety.

For the above reasons, high performance boats generally have the trim controls situated in a location where it is most accessible, without the driver having to look for them. Since performance-minded boaters are always adjusting the drive unit trim angle, a common location for mounting the trim switches has been on the steering wheel itself.
