• Mercury Introduces 200 Pro FourStroke At The Miami International Boat Show

    MIAMI (Feb. 13, 2014) – Mercury Marine introduced its new 200 Pro FourStroke outboard today at the Miami International Boat Show.

    The engine – the third in the Pro FourStroke family – combines the incredible acceleration and top speed of other Mercury Pro series outboards, including the OptiMax Pro XS, with the pleasingly quiet, smooth operation of the Mercury Verado.

    The 200 Pro FourStroke is built on the same six-cylinder Verado outboard platform as the 250 and 300 Pro FourStroke models, delivering outstanding hole shot and punchy mid-range acceleration. State-of-the-art Verado supercharged technology allows precise, programmable control over the fueling strategy and air intake. No competing engine can manage intake with this degree of precision because no other engine is supercharged with computer-controlled boost.



    The outstanding torque and overall performance of the 200 Pro FourStroke make it ideal for pontoons, saltwater bay and flats boats and freshwater fishing boats.

    The 200 Pro FourStroke comes standard with the Advanced Mid Section (AMS), Digital Throttle and Shift (DTS) and electro-hydraulic power steering for an unrivaled driving experience.

    The 200 Pro FourStroke will be available for purchase in spring 2014.

      That's a strange motor to begin with. The 200 doesn't make much sense in the L6 version...especially when you can get it in the much lighter L4 configuration.

      They need a lightweight n/a 200 based on the 3.0L 150....to compete with the new baby Yamaha SHO..

      Sorry to say but what a great disappointment! I was hoping for some light weight serious high power two stroke... Instead Mercury goes bigger and heavier engines=bigger and heavier boats=higher fuel consumption=higher service costs=higher running costs... It's time to go back to basics if you want the average Joe to go boating!

      Talk to Darris Allison! He wil put you at Mercury back on the right track! I can't see a faster and at the same time more efficient boat than my Allison SS-2000 with Mercury Racing 200xs ros.

      This isn't a new motor....just a new "pro" version of an old motor....nothing new to see here lol.

      I was under the impression that mercury stopped selling the 200 L6 verado due to low sales. What makes them think it will be any different now?

      I would buy a yamaha show way over this new turd, the verados suck, they suck fuel and are so heavy, plus with having to use all there steering and controls that are junk your looking at major costs, The yamaha show you can get 6 yr warrenty on them they are lighter and get way more hrs out of them than any mercury, I got a buddy that has a 115 yamaha four stroke and is coming up on 11,000 hrs on his work boat trapping crabs. I have been running yamaha four strokes since 2004 and have thousands of hours on them and never once have they had to go to the shop for warrenty thats the good part about them also 6 yr warrenty and the best part you won;t have to use it.
      All of use speed boat guys that so badly want to see them re release the 2.5 don;t hold your breath we won;t see anything other than the 200xs which is a great little motor for sure but at a cost of 17 to 20 thousand and zero warrenty who really wants one. Dez nuts

      They need to replace the 3 liter 225xs with the 200ros and have it make the same 240 at the prop with 6800 rpms to play with. Sell it with the same warranty and cost the 225 sells at.


      the way I look at it I can only fincabce a motor as long as the warranty is. So no warranty no finance drops a lot of buyers like myself out of the market.

      This one really is hard to understand!! Was hoping for an XS version of the Verado in a lighter weight, more fuel efficient and maybe little lower cost. Love the engine.... Don't want the weight hanging on the back of my boat. If Yamaha can do it Mercury ought to be able to do it better!

      I feel like mercury has petered us all.for years we have basically done the marketing for them with our polished boats and fast motors. Now if u need a new motor you have to buy a bigger boat to float the big bastard.they must have jumped in bed with the boat company industry too.screw you mercury. Make us some more 2.5 motors or at least replacement powerheads.remember we put you where your at and now you build only big turds.I promise I will NOT purchase one.I'll just sell out and get a aluminium rig with ayammy.for now, screw yourself mercury!
