36-year-old Hellkats Powerboats founder Renier “Rey” Marino went missing several days ago during a test of a new 32-foot cat, and a large search began immediately. Unfortunately, many people were fearing the worst, and Rey's body was recovered yesterday near Julia Tuttle Causeway in Biscayne Bay.

The 32-foot Hellkats cat was found with significant damage, though there are no specific details about what caused the accident. Marino left to test this boat on Tuesday prior to delivery to a customer, and he never returned.

A Truly Incredible Experience!▼

The Alva River Run was just amazing. The entire island was like one giant party barge with boats all around it, and not an extra space to be spared. It really is a great location and there were no mishaps of any kind. Hanging out on the island with a panoramic view of all the boats really was exactly what I needed after being in lockdown so long. The variety of boats there was astounding, from a classic Checkmate to one of Wildman Randy's Liberator creations and almost everything you can imagine was present. It really was a great day to shoot photos.

Whether storing your boat for months or years, a few extra steps can make a big difference▼

With the exception of the the diehards among us, the boating season is over for most people up north now so I thought this might be a good time to outline some tips for the proper storage of your boat during the off-season or just taking it out of service. I should note that this article is about the care of your hull in storage, not the engine and other systems.

There are many sources for preparing engines for storage, however I’ve found that often the hulls themselves are usually put into storage with not much more than a cover. That may be fine for short-term, in-between-use layups, however, additional steps should be taken if the boat is to be stored for more than a month.

It's That Time Again! ▼

It seems to have become a tradition to give away a Fire TV during the holidays, so here we go again! I use my Fire TV every day, and during the COVID solitary confinement, it has helped a great deal. So I will be giving away the new 2020 version of the Fire TV Stick with Alexa remote. I don't think anybody is sure how long COVID will continue to be a big concern, so maybe this device will make any future lockdowns a bit easier.

(September 15, 2020) – The new Mercury Racing 360 APX competition outboard is a potent four-stroke V8 designed specifically to power Formula One tunnel boats on the UIM F1H2O World Championship. The 360 APX outboard is the first model in a new Mercury Racing Apex Series of outboards designed for closed-course competition, and will be available in late 2020 only to qualified racing teams.

HydroStream V-King Returns to Metalflake Glory!▼

Classic HydroStream boats are all old now, and most of them are at a point where they need serious restoration to bring them back to their original state of glory. Like any restoration of a classic vehicle, the result is truly a statement of the talent and resourcefulness of the restorers.

I don't think anybody here that knows Ronnie Holzmacher knows how incredible these photos will be. I've known Ronnie over 20 years and I'm always amazed by his work, and being that he did his magic on a HydroStream, that made me pretty excited. Brian Carhart replaced the floor and stringers, and I hope Brian and Ronnie will jump in here with more details. When was the last time you saw metalflake that awesome? I just love metalflake!
