I absolutely loved it - the weather, palm trees, clear waters, and most of all, the concentration of some of the fastest boats in the country. That was a big change for me in many ways, and Andy Frost's recent passing has me reflecting on his impact on my life and on this website.

When I began Scream And Fly over 20 years ago, I knew nearly nothing about powerboat drag racing and most especially, outboard-powered drag boats. The two-phase construction project will add 40,000 square feet of manufacturing operations space to the southwest corner of the existing Fond du Lac, Wis. facility and expand the current propeller shop by 8,000 square feet on the north side of the building. The project will bring the Racing facility to nearly 150,000 square feet.

One of the most critical aspects of every center console’s performance is at what RPM the vessel gets on plane. It is here that the Sharrow Propeller's performance is remarkable. It can be seen clearly in the charts that the boat is nearly on plane at 2500 RPM and 15.4 mph.

The conventional props tested on the Robalo R302 were stainless steel 15.25” x 19” (38.73 cm x 48.26 cm). The Sharrow props were 15.04” x 19” (38.02 cm x 48.26 cm).

GALEON 325 GTO / TWIN MERCURY 400 HP OUTBOARDS

Sharrow Marine collected data on a Galeon 325 GTO with twin Mercury 400 HP outboards. The boat has a L.O.A of 32’ 9” and a beam of 10’ 11” and a deadrise of 21. Dry weight is listed as 14,200 lbs. and the estimated test weight was 15,200 lbs. The customer asked us to develop a propeller that would get the boat on plane at a lower RPM and keep it on plane at lower RPM to allow a greater range of cruising speeds.

One Of The Largest Events Of The Summer▼

The Camp Mack River Run is approaching in a week, and it looks like the attendance is going to be massive.

The event takes place at Camp Mack in Lake Wales, FL and its organizer, Josh Pomerleau made this one of the best river run events of the year. Aside from the perfect water conditions for fast running, the event will feature a live band, fireworks, and even air conditioning for the indoor banquet! All the bases are covered here for sure!

Myself and Jeff Girardi will be at the event to shoot videos and photos, and I will also be live-streaming coverage on our YouTube; Facebook, and Instagram channels. Jeff will also be adding photos to his Instagram channel as well. Jeff will be on-site to provide prints.

Most of us know Fred Kiekaefer, as not only the son of the founder of Mercury Marine, Carl Kiekaefer, but as the former president of Mercury Racing. And we all know his engineering and design accomplishments there represent the very soul of Mercury Racing.

After leaving from Mercury Racing, Fred started his own company, K.Lab Design Works, and has just received a patent for a surfacing drive with a cockpit-controlled variable-pitch propeller. Originally known as Project Dolphin, this drive is intended for larger, heaver performance boats, and the prototype unit shown below was tested on a 39-foot deep V-bottom hull.

36-year-old Hellkats Powerboats founder Renier “Rey” Marino went missing several days ago during a test of a new 32-foot cat, and a large search began immediately. Unfortunately, many people were fearing the worst, and Rey's body was recovered yesterday near Julia Tuttle Causeway in Biscayne Bay.

The 32-foot Hellkats cat was found with significant damage, though there are no specific details about what caused the accident. Marino left to test this boat on Tuesday prior to delivery to a customer, and he never returned.
