The real proof of the checkmate known as smilemaker is in the ride. As long as the one in the back seat does water control and flips the bilge pump. But it runs, its real strong come down to the retard challenge and take your spankings.:D Capt Morgan rides shotgun:eek:

Ckmate 2.5 the Fool that owns the Smilemaker thinks he is fast, but I think you got him. You got a smaller boat with a bigger motor.;) Where are you at, looks like lobsterrs in the Pix so Maine??? I think I am going to Spank Smilemaker this year Too.:D

Dave,
I'm from Massachusetts, northshore. Next year I am using the same motor on a diffrent mate. An even faster one. A sportfire. Whith the setup I'll be using I'm hoping for 80+. The smile maker is an enchanter as I'm sure you know. Kinda heavy for a 21 footer. BTW what do you run, & do you know this guy??

the predictor should run faster than a sportfire with the same power as it weighs less and is more narrow...

Idealy you're right but my predictor hull was chipped and scrached up, probably had a hook as well. The sportfire is clean and flat. I've been told by a checkmate expert who has run both of these hulls that the sportfire hull is more efficiant with less slip...anyways it only weighs 100lbs more and when its riding the pad it doesnt matter how wide it is. I believe this hull to be faster.;)

Checkmate2.5 I'm an Ipswich kid! I don't think I will be putting my new toy into the ocean but if I do where should I look for you? If your from Marblehead there really isn't a good way to get from Ipswich to Marbelhead in these little fast boats. If you ever get up to NH we can blast around the freshwater Merrimac (hooksett) Were you boating around the N. shore in the late 80's? If so you might know my old ride!

Hi Jim, I was born in 1983 but have been kickin' round here my whole life. In the late 80's early 90's my father out almost every day in his 21' Supeboat. It was Blue with a built 200. ran in the 70's. He has had dozens of speedboats so Im sure you might have seen him around. I usualy head up the anasquam river to cranes beach. I would love to rip it up with you sometime. Ill check back on this thread later....

I remember a blue and white superboat as there were only 2 around here at the time. Ask you dad if he remembers Helter Skelter from the Ipswich river. If I put this boat in salt it will be to go to Cranes and the sandbar. I USED to love Fox Creek until the freakin' kayakers got someone to make it 5MPH!

Checkmate2.5

Ill ask him about that.
If you were ever around Beverly harbor and the Danvers river then odds are it was us. There was an identical red Superboat from Salem that was around as well. The Danvers river has been a hot spot lately for some fast boats. Every time I go there there is a 60+mph river rat lurking around somewhere. I 've never been up the Merrimack yet because I dont know where the best places are....Perhaps you can show me some cool places to run.:D
BTW what do and did you run for boat/motor???

Around 88 I got a 15' Whaler w/70 hp. Engine up on the transom, raker prop. I went about 52. I pissed off EVERYBODY with this thing! I now have a 15' Viper that is getting a 150 V6 and I am about to Re-rig the whole thing. There was a white Superboat with an OMC second effort 275 in near IBYC. That was a fast boat.

Smilemake. I got him hooked on fast boats and put his motors back together. I have a bunch of boats, most don't get used.:o I want to put a 21 check together that I have laying around. My regular boat is a 24 superboat that runs in the 100s with a 2.4. My wife likes that one for the nice ride and room for the dogs.:)

Jim...it must have been nice to poor on the whop ass in a Whaler. There is a 17' whaler with a 115 jonnyrude that runs in the 50's in Marblehead.
Your Viper should run nice with a V6...mid 80's??

Dave, what kind of Checkmate do you have an Enchanter or Starflight?? I am looking to buy a Starflite if you got one lyin around.... Lets see some pics of your classic mate.

I whipped alot of ocean small boat ass but the fast lake boats tend to stay out of the salt. I used to get away with things in that Whaler that would sink/snap in half my Viper. I outran the Ipswich Harbor patrol during a small craft warning to go out to the Cranes sandbar wave jumping. The freakin USCG was called in to come get me! I didn't even know about it at the time until the Harbor master got me on the way in and they pulled up.:D I have to find it but I have a picture of a jump on that sandbar where you can see where I left the water and I am landing in the picture. If the boat was 15' the jump was 30'+:D :D

That photo must be a Good one. 2 summers ago I jumped the casino boat wake in my Predictor at 30mph. The wave was way bigger than the usual ferry boat wake I was used to and I must have caught about 5-6' of air. I thought the boat was going to do a backflip but it landed on the transom and suprisingly went down softly! Good thing I had a Checkmate because if i was in anything else the boat would have probably broke in half:eek:
I wish I got that one on film...

I wasn't getting the air I wanted at the sandbar so I hit a wave trimmed. The F$%^ng thing went STRAIGHT UP! It also landed straight down, sank into the water about 3 feet and popped back up at a dead stop. My friend who was with me has scars from going back into the gastanks:D He is on this board as LYSHOLM. HE was with me for most of those antics.

Nice Checkmate, I had the same colors on my Enchanter!
This color combo is my favorite. the tripple color interior and deck look great on these small boats.:)
Do you have any pics of your enchanter on Checkmate-boats.com??
