Dave, You have the attitude this year of "WE'LL SEE"
What you get a new boat and then you don't want to drive it.

NEED FIRM DATES!!!!!!
Looks like the "Official as it gets" KDBA and SLDBA schedule came out so I need firm Rumble dates. Would like to do it all but there looks like conflicts!!!

Wing Ding,
We close on selling our current house tommorow. We are going to rent our house back, then in April or so, we'll move in the river house.
Trey, how did you guages turn out? We are gonna have to race this year!

I will see my boat next weekend. I am assuming they look great, no problems with putting them in. If I go and pick it up, I will try and swing by your place. Gordie might be going to Lansing and will meet me around the I80 & I294 area. I'll race you with one engine against one engine. No problem.
That would be alittle more fair given the weight of each boat.
Already there is speculation about the rumble from Dave
I'm in Yammer
Hopefully we can get more of Team CANADA down ( there were a few BOOMS, before in testing ).
I may even have my boat by then............

RACE STV, SHIOT, I got a 2.5 xs on the back stock production merc motor under warranty on a EURO, yes it is a 4 letter word, but race is not he first word that would come into mind. A seven letter word would and that is cruiser. 2 batteries, a stereo, full interior, not a light lay up.
Hmm against 2 non-stock engines, kevlar layup, race hatch.
I will grudge race you got no problems with that. I will have my saftey gear there.

Dave call me sometime......I'm still waitin for your call to meet for breakfast on your way home from picking up the new boat  :D .......you upset me so much that I lost all my hair..........Brad.

Dave,
I guess it won't matter if it's on labor day weekend, I won't be able to go to the Rumble then. Was assuming it was first or second week in August.
So I guess I should stop my WINEING, and just step up to the plate. After that then we can have a race to see who can get it on the trailer fastest. And that means NO OTHER OUTSIDE HELP. Because if I remember right it was what how many people to get yours on the trailer because you couldn't drive it properly. 8 or so. I cannot remember, but there was at least 3 on the side I was helping from. HE HE HE HE HE HE

Its only Janaury and you guys are already getting pumped up, OK,heres what the deal Is, before I can set a date I have to get a Insurance quote and put togather a expense budget then apply for the funding from the city, the city has to meet and have a vote as to how much they can afford at spend on the event, they will then tell me yes or no and theres not much I can do till then.I talked to Gator some time ago about doing It In sept because the weather and the River are almost always perfect then, but know a lot of you cant make It then because of school , so If we get the funding It will go off sometime In aug. I want to wait till ODBA sets there dates so as not to conflict with one of there race dates. NOTE, hope The ODBA shows us the same courtesy and does not reschedule one of there races over ours like they did last year. Every body just hold on for now and It will all come togather soon. Thanks Tony.
Wing Nut..... I have been working on it EVERY weekend, for mths now. It is coming along now.
I have all the rigging, and 2 motors for it.
It better be ready long before the Rumble!.
Yammer do you not think we can bunny hop your truck?
RT
Jeff "Yammer"
01-24-2006, 05:04 PM
BRB ..... Hey bring it on !! It will be fun to line up against my old boat.
Speedracer ...... Tell them that Canada loves there little city and the water they allow us to tear up. It wouldn't be the same not to be at The Rumble on the first weekend in Aug. every year !!!! Tony never has there been an ODBA reguler come to the Rumble. They can not be expected to change a race date due to the fact that a boat get-together is on at the same time as well as the fact that they have sponsors and specific sites booked for specific times.
RBT ..... Believe me , I have tried a few times and the F150 wont bunny hop. It jumps well but does not bunny hop.

Depending on how the water is in Oconomowoc, WI I may get my engine on earlier than I expected. It was all about the water or ice on the water up there. If it thaws early and there are no chunks, I have no problems taking it up there, everything is paid for, just have to get it mounted.

If you have a junk truck.
You have about 7 months to get a new one or bum a ride, or fix the situation. I think Yammer might have flown in one year to one of the airports nearby.
Get the convoy together and combine the bodies with the vehicles.
Thats probably what we will do in our area.
Unless Warlock is leaving on Tuesday to go down there, he seems pumped and primed, ready to get the drink on. He might be worried his spot will be taken if hes not one of the first ones there.

I think Warlock has his own choice of spots anyway at the Rumble ...... Hell last year he kicked out a family of 5 that were there a day earlier than him. Just cuase he has that little blue sticker on his car/boat he thinks he owns the best parking spots

Like JWS said, is there anyone we can contact? If there is no organized Rumble, I think i'm going to go to Carrolton and go boating anyways. Anyone want to join. And just to show my appreciation to the town of Carrollton, I'll stay in Madison and trailer down to Carrollton to use the free ramp. Like Tony said, its like pulling teeth (if any are avaliable in Carrolton J/k) to get money out of the town. I certainly don't need a tent and I'm good with my own beer. I just heard through the grapevine the the town of Carrollton is bitc(*** about funding again. It seems like every year Tony has to jump through hoops to make this thing happen in Carrollton. What do guys think of moving the Rumble to another location and see how Carrolton likes it. It seems like they always like all the income this event generates but never want to help out. I just think that maybe if Tony moves it to another location for one year, Carrollton will see how much revenue this little event generates. I, for one would'nt mind a change of pace, and it just might help out in end. Just think of that gas station owner over the bridge. How much money alone does he make for four days. Just a thought...What does everyone else think??? Later, Dave

02-03-2006, 08:39 AM
One thing to remember if we just all go down to Carrollton, normally the park does not allow alcohol, shouldn’t be a big deal with Dave, he told me he is cutting back on that stuff, he said something like overrated. Obviously on the water it is fine to have your drink of choice.
Moving the Rumble would be fine, we just have to find a site to accommodate the crowd, and get them to go. But we could run into the same things that Tony is. Insurance $$$, getting an officer Friendly like we have had there that does not really care what we do (to a point) and looks the other way when loud booms go off, and somehow people 3 towns away think there are terrorists nearby.
We would need a spokes person in whatever town or area to talk with the local yokels, and get everything approved, if we have a large gathering.
I will say the Site in Carrollton is perfect.
WARLOCK
02-03-2006, 09:03 AM
I totally agree that Carrollton is perfect, but if they can't support this thing, why should we support them? I'm sure there any many places that would take our business and money. Carrollton obviously does not understand that sometimes it takes money to make money. Later, Dave
Warlock, I agree with some of your concerns RE: the town fathers of Carrollton, but it needs to be put into the proper perspective. The $$ the town puts up is owned by the good folks of Carrollton and they(residents) expect A good return on their investment. Remember what we are up against. Kentucky speedway is just a short ride down the road. Carrollton could probably schedule a tupperware party in the park on a nascar or IRL weekend and pull in hundreds of food storing maniacs with pockets full of $$ to spread around town. Ya, this i an exaggeration but my point is that there is competition for thse dollars.
Tony obviously knows the political climate the county and if we can help he will probably let us know how. I am a past member of our plan commission here in indiana and i know for sure that the local powers in Carroll county will atleast listen to Tony and the other voters in th area.
I met the gal that worked for the econ. dev. board last year and was very impressed with her interest in the event. She seemed to be a big supporter of the event but told me she is just staff to the actual board. However I believe her or her successors support could go a long way for us. I wanted to E-mail her last year to thank her for the support of herself and the board but couldnt find an address on the city or county website. If anyone knows what it is please post. Better late than never
Enough of my rambling for now,THANKS FOR YOUR EFFORTS TONY

I heard those booms last year myself, And was quite scared!
JWS,
If they want to schedule a tupperware event or whatever thats up to them, I understand. But this event definitely generates cashflow ie;Hotels, Alchohol, Food, GAS and whatnot. They also seem to love us when we are there, but like I said before, maybe a little change can be good. Trust me, I'm not for moving this thing, I just feel bad for Tony trying to beg for money. Just looked to see where in TN Dale Hollow Lake is and it looks to be Cave Springs is the closest town
Morris to Cave Springs is 484 miles or 8 hours 23 minutes
Morris to Carrollton is 333 miles or 5 hours 49 minutes
Showing about 150 miles and at least 2 hours longer
This is getting pretty far for the Wisconsin boys.

I think we should have a tally of names and addresses to see who will all sign the letter to send to the Carrolton board. Better yet, do two of them in separate envelopes in case one gets lost. Each person who volunteers must promise to sign them both, and put stamps on them, and send them to the next person on the list enclosed. Imagine that, all the names handwritten.
"Chad, Michigan"
"Dave, Illinois"
"Scott, New York"
...And there will be many more.
It would take half the year to get it done, though.
Dale Hollow would be way cool!! Very clean water, great scenery and lotsa, lotsa calm water (usually). Does anyone have any experience in dealing with the Tennesse Valley Authority (TVA)? I would guess they may be a very bureaucratic bunch. Bot WOW!! what a site for an event.

hand written letter would be a good idea, and in it give a pledge (bribe:D ) for a small donation if they throw the event 5 or 10 dollars?

Pyro,
That seems like a great idea, along with Charlie to add a donation, what we would need to have is one letter that was short and sweet that we could print up, put your name address hand written and signed, ad a donation, and then send to either one person, or Tony, he could put together the petition, and then show them how much we support this event. We would need to do this quick if this was any idea. We all could not sign one piece of paper as it would take days to get back and forth to everyone, and then up to Canada and back it would take months to move it around only to a few people. Starting a new post with the letter to copy and paste it in Word or Word Perfect, or word pad and then hand write your name address and sign. Address is key so they can see that people are traveling from all over the US and Canada to this event, I don't think they really know the magnatude of how far some people travel to this event. Maybe even adding how many miles or hours it takes you to travel to this event and you would really like to attend the Rumble on the River in Carrollton Kentucky, We would hate to move it accross the bridge to Madison, IN.
Just my idea. but adding on to others.

OK ..... some one needs to write it !!! I'm not exactly the best auther for this. Scott get your Dad to write it up ....... Dear Town of Carrolton , I would miss not being able to pass out in my truck this year in your great town. Nor would my son be able to run his mouth off and then get drunk beyond words and make a fool of him self......
Hahahaha ...... Scott just kidding , your Dad may be the right man for the job. He very well spoken and well being the parent of some one who has put memories in the minds of the townsfolk ( both good and bad ) it may make a difference.

Got a call today [sunday] from the Mayor of carrollton, she just got back in town from a weekend trip and heard the news of the Tourism Board not approving our funding for Rumble on the River VI. Needless to say, she is upset and promises to get on the phone tomorrow to make inquires of just what is exactly going on. If anyone who reads this has ever been to any Rumble Event held in Carrollton, have probably meet our mayor, the honorable Ms. Ann Deatherage. Without a doubt she is a hugh supporter of our event, and without a doubt will get too the bottom of the problem with the funding with the event. Everyone please be patient. Thanks Tony

First off you wont get many if any "Pro" racer's at the Rumble any way.
Second .... I won't be able to make it for 2 reasons. (1) If Bill Gohr is racing that weekend is the biggest ChampBoat race of the year St. Louis !! So we wouldn't make it. (2) There is something major going on around here that weekend

the weekend of the 19th is perfect! I will see all you down there, the canadian crew should be pretty big this year. I think I will have to get my boat set up for 600' by the end of june and then put the keys in a timed box that does not open until Aug 18th, that way I can't blow it up like last year:(
Yammer what on EARTH could be more important than the rumble!.
RPM, you best not run your boat at all ( like me ) otherwise you will only be on the drinking team only..... unless you think you perfect streak of blowing up EVERYTHING you own is over.

AAA ... crap .... I got the dates screwed up. My function was not untill that same date but in Sept. Dumb-Ass
It still sucks if we are racing that weekend, Bill and I would not be able to go.
RPM , hey man why would I get mad. I can't fault a guy for dreaming. Hell I would make a trip down there just to race you and all you light-weight stuff just to show you that a plain old regular 2.5 with a 15" mid. can compete .... in fact it can even hand you your ass. :D
It will be funny to see RBT down there ........ he'll be running between all you guys "Tuning" up all your stuff ....... cuz from what I understand you should let him be the one "Tuning" things in your camp  BOOM
If all goes well, I will be tuning my own sh1t.
They don't need my help, and I sure don't want to be held responsible when they go BOOM..... as we all know they will..... it would be at least nice if they save it for the Rumble so we all get to see the carnage.... Phil, just remmber to bring a BIGGER fire extingusher!.

Carrollton Inn
Best Western
Super 8
Holiday Inn
Days Inn
Hampton Inn
Then there is also your vehicle. Alot get a hotel but end up staying in their vehicle because they passed out before they could start it. Some bring tents and stay in the park, there have been campers, there have been people sleeping outside. Most get a hotel in the town and stay there.
Very nice park to camp or stay in a tent, just don't expect much sleep if you do this.

Jeff "Yammer"
02-17-2006, 01:03 PM
Well Chummy .... there is the Poker Run, Drags, Top Speed Competition.
As far as non-event type runs ......... its unlimited. Lots of sites to see ...... the damm at the north ( north or west ??? ) has a great beach and you could go all the way the other way ...... head to Madison and beyond. You just need to hook up with some friends there ( new or old ..... ) Pop the boat in and go .....
There's also the odd drink to be had too ............. ;)

Other activities,
Bars on the water in Madison, there are numerous sand beaches you can stop at. Just your normal cruising, the water is right there, put your boat in, get some people and go. There might be a tree swing somewhere if I remember right. Lots of things to look at and many miles of wide open water. The ohio is very wide right out front of the rumble.
I think there should be some more boating related activities this year too.
And then non-related boating activities, there are always numerous ones, Tony has listed those on another thread, bars are nearby, fuel is right across the street, hotel with walking distance (carrollton inn, not bad we have stayed there).
Its a well put together gathering of people. Most the people are coming to hang out and get to know people rather than racing. Racing is avaliable and welcomed.

There is some really cool boating that I think no one has explored.....and its not on the river right out front....if ya go through town but not right toward the hotels about 15 minutes out of town is great boating...just don't think anyone other than my wife and I have been there....of course we are probably the only ones that have made a week out of the rumble.....as for boating yes you can fo up or down the river boating.....you can even take the wife shopping by boat! I have done it!
As for beaches in madison bring shoes I think the others typing are talking out there asses I have done the real deal......been there year after year and beached.....ever seen a hypo needle in the sand? Wear your shoes and you will be okay also bring plenty of line....unless ya gotta beach stake its a long way to a tree from the beach....also best shopping and cool downtown river atmosphere is the other way east/north of the rumble.....madison is good for lunch and drinks/gas walking to shopping is not ideal compared to the other places you can go....go up river not down river!!!!!!!!!!!!!Been ther done that....my wife and I been to the rumble since the begining....she missed a year but if you have a better half just contact my wife she will give ya tips.....some of it we haven't even touched but we know about it....Ya can spend a week easy and not touch all the boating fun available!
