What do you guys use for an oil pump to circulate the oil to the turbo? How big of a resevoir do you use?

I'm somewhat behind the newest technologies here, but my understanding was that unless you use valves on a two stroke, just like an old oil leaking Detroit Diesel, you cannot run compressed aspiration systems (turbo superchanger) because it will push the fuel through the engine so fast it won't burn efficiently. So, if that theroy is still correct, oiling a two stroke turbo matters not because it ain't gunna work.

Please correct me if I'm wrong here, I had a 15 year sabaticle from 2 stroke outboards.

They have been doing it for years on snow mobiles - a lot of them run rotary valve engines, like the Rotax. I was asking because a turbo application I am playing with currently uses a sealed unit turbocharger (aerodyno) and we need to move to a standard oil-bath type where I will need to pump oil to it.

I was hoping the sled guys could shed some light on what they are using.

The unit I have looked at were self contained oiling. They are making unreal power on snowmobiles. So much, I was afraid it would lead to other problems in the drivetrain and engine.

Ok, that makes sense, but it follows suite with my thoughts about valves. Are there any rotory valve outboard motors that have ever been made since Champion used an external rotory valve in te late 40's early 50's? I'm thinking any outboard you run into is going to have reeds. The other question I have then is how do they close the exhaust after the intake allows the charge in so it does not pass all the way out?

I don't know the particular mods they might do to a 2 stroke turbo, but remember that unlike a supercharger the turbo does make backpressure when under boost. The nice part about sleds it that its real cold when you run them, that helps with the heat generated.

Check out this post with pics of one. Note the pipe still on the motor, the pipe also supercharges the motor-forcing the mixture back into the cylinder.

I had a 2 gallon oil tank and a 12 volt oil pump.

Thanks guys! SHO, that pump looks pretty good. Eric, what pump did you run, do you remember?
