Hey guys..

The UPS man delivered my new D70s yesterday. What a piece of work !
I got the "outfit" so it came with a 18-70 AF lens. Manual is pretty good, but there's alot to learn if I really want to get the most out of it. Bought it from Cametta camera. All items delivered as promised. I really think the D70s was the right choice for me. Now on to a printer. I have my eye on a Cannon PIXMA i8500. Will try to post some pics in a few days.

Thanks to all for the input. I'll be in touch

Jimmy

If your looking at another lens the 70-300 nikon lens can't be beat for the price.($120):)

Yes, Jerry taught me everything I know. :D

Jimmy, that's great to hear! The D70s is a fantastic camera that can easily produce professional results, but you'll have to practice, practice, practice! I think you'll find the practicing part fun though, and that's what makes these cameras so great.

The 18-70 is a very good lens - you'll be very pleased with its image quality and speed. Dial it in at F8-F11 (light permitting, of course) and its images will blow you away.

The 70-300G you mention is a very decent lens which is surprisingly inexpensive. A better choice in that category would be the Nikkor 70-300ED, which has better glass and is constructed of metal. Keep in mind that both of those lenses are AF models, not AF-S, so they will not be especially fast at focusing. Stopped down a bit, they produce nice images though.

i8500 is a great printer but is being discontunued. they are still out there so hurry. also look into the kodak 1400 dye sub, but $2 per print but really worth it for final copies.
