I wanted to get some opinions for an accurate temp sender and guage set up for an 2003 225 EFI. I have heard that older guages and new senders don't work well. I was going to go with all new teleflex and replace, the essentially new sender, that's in the motor now. The motor is a factory reman, it runs cool, but is the stock place for sender going to give me most accurate reading??

Guage says 190 now, I ran it all season like that, no buzzers, pisser feels cool to cold, you can touch the motor.

Also, will the stock harness give me a wire for an EGT guage.

Thanks, Ed

Buy a Livorsi or Autometer with sendor. this will give you corect reading.

As for as placement, I am not up to date on the newer engines.

But someone on this board is.

Trick marine is a Livorsi Dealer.

He is a supporting vender.

And does stand behind what he sells!

check the manual for that motor. you may find the horn temperature is near 240, so 190 isn't too bad. also does the motor have smartcraft, if so disconnecting a stock sender will cause all sorts of error messages.

I will check the manual when I get home. It does say smartcraft on it.

I think your right, I would never disconect that sender but I might want to add one.

I thought it should run at 160 degrees, and it does at low speeds. But when you crank it up it holds at 190-195. Maybe your right, maybe I'm chasing a ghost. I hate it when I do that.

Water presure is at 25lbs on plane.

Thanks for the thought

Well, if the guage is supported by the head temp sensor then your right, that temp reading would make more sense. I need to get an updated manual for a 3.0, this one is to 2000. The specification chart wasn't clear on running temp. Thermastat temps listed, are between 145-160, but even with the popet valve open the head temp could be 190 running 3000-5500rpm right?
