View Full Version : Question for the motor builders

I have a stock untouched (as far as I know) 1995 Mariner Super Mag 200. I'm not sure of the hours, no meter, but runs fine. I would like to bump up the power for next year but I'm thinking it may need to be gone through to prevent scattering it. How much should I expect to pay for a mild performance rebuild? Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

Motor actually means gas or electrical.
A quote from Merriam-Websters Dictionary,
“Any of various power units that develop energy or impart motion: as a : a small compact engine b : INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE; especially : a gasoline engine c : a rotating machine that transforms electrical energy into mechanical energy” :)

I have a 200 XRI, (it's now a 200x as I call it)
Changes:
Sportmaster lower unit.
Tuner, bucket out, drilled
Solid mounts
Alien Couling
SVS
Brucato ECU, with steam wheel
4 pedal reeds
1 inch spacer
Aeromotive fuel regulator, with fuel seperator removed and pump moved into boat.
heads cut to 35cc
Soon to install .044 head gaskets
Testing all kinds of reeds now.

We are 2 to 2.5 hours apart no big deal.

Engine, machine for converting energy into motion or mechanical work. The energy is usually supplied in the form of a chemical fuel, such as oil or gasoline, steam, and the mechanical work is most commonly delivered in the form of rotary motion of a shaft. Engines are usually classified according to the form of energy they utilize, as steam, compressed air, and gasoline; the type of motion of their principal parts, as reciprocating and rotary; the place where the exchange from chemical to heat energy takes place, as internal combustion and external combustion; the method by which the engine is cooled, as air-cooled or water-cooled; the position of the cylinders of the engine, as V, in-line, and radial; the number of strokes of the piston for a complete cycle, as two-stroke and four-stroke; the type of cycle, as Otto (in ordinary gasoline engines) and diesel; and the use for which the engine is intended, as automobile and airplane engines. Engines are often called motors, although the term motor is sometimes restricted to engines that transform electrical energy into mechanical energy (see Electric Motors and Generators). Other specialized engines are the windmill, gas turbine, steam turbine, and rocket and jet engines.

“the term motor is sometimes restricted to engines that transform electrical energy into mechanical energy”

I guess the key word there is “sometimes”. The misconception has always been a pet peeve of mine. ;)

Well you got a GREAT boat to begin with. I love those V21s. You'll get all kinds of suggestions on here. I would recomend calling Wally at Triad and asking him who can be trusted in your area. Good luck and happy boating. Merry Christmas too.
Later, Ro Yale

Thank's for the tip's, suggestion's and definition's. I will have to get back on this more seriously after Christmas because with a 4 year old boy and a 15 week old boy, things are getting a little crazy around the Murphy household. Santa and Mrs. Clause have a little more work to do. Be good or be good at it!
