I am considering replacing my 2.4 race cowling with an aftermarket. I like the '97 back 2.5 cowling but Bobs only sells the alien cowling. Who besides eagle one sells them?
Thanks,
AZH

AZH,
I have a mold for the '97 style cowl. I even have an extra cowl sitting on the shelf. Mine are a bit spendy, but are of the absolute best quality.
They are all hand laid and weigh within 1/2# of the plastic cowls.
Wayne Tripp has a carbon fiber cowl from me and can attest to the quality.
$400.00 for the three fiberglass pieces (top, bottom, and front cover) I throw in the latches also.
It takes 10 hours to make the three pieces. Then add in the materials and latches. I don't make that much on my labor. (about $30.00 per hr). I can make $50.00 per hr doing repairs, but I'm trying to keep the cowl prices to an absolute minimum.
If you're interested, send me your e-mail adress and I can send you lots of pictures of the complete lay-up process so you can see how they are made.
I also have a mold for a fiberglass 2.4 midsection rear cover. It covers the entire rear of the mid and has an offshore exhaust snout molded in. It will even cover up the ugly Bob's offshore "box" offshore housing. Here's a picture.

Thought of making a knock-off Alien cowl too?? How 'bout a mini-alien for my 15 Honda??????
Marc,
I think Wayne Taylor at MADEFI has them too.

Hey Man...
Where have you been?
Ya I saw that on mad efi. I dunno which way I will go yet.
I took the boat out today for the first time. I was just getting used to it and while crawling along I hit a rock and damaged my yammaha drag. I put the 30 chopper on it but I only took it to 83 mph. Water was rough, and I havent done some set up I need to do.
I think I need to raise the motor. The carbs have sat with fuel in them for 4 months thanks to the prior owner and I see varnish in the bores. i dont even know if the timing or jetting is correct. All in all it ran pretty good.
Later,
Marc

Wally makes both styles and they are top notch. I don't have his # but he's in Georgia somewhere by Augusta as I recall.
