how big should I start with and how many should I put to fine tune my idle.

Do you have the old style plate or the new one with the throttle cracker? If it's 94 or newer, you should have a set screw on the ECU bracket... I had good luck adjusting so a business card would just slide past the plate... 2-1/8th holes should be plenty with the old style.

If you have an older style horn adjust all the slack out of the linkage and simply adjust the stops to not allow the butterfly to shut all the way, that way your idle speed can be adjusted to an exact desired idle number. Call and I'll tell you how to adjust the timing to mock the slide clearance the 260 had in the black aluminum end attachment on the end of the linkage rod. These mods will pick up hole shot as much as 1/10 th of a second in 100 yards on a drag race starts ! ( been there, done that and got a T-EE shirt LOL....... )
