Thanks guys, can anybody certify the stock plugs as the champions? I am buying these for my dad, and can't get to the engine to see what is in it.
Is there a guide somewhere of all of mercs spark plugs? I use NGK's in my 3 outboards, but he likes to stick to stock stuff, unless someone can convince me to switch his otherwise. Thanks,

I think Merc parts express shows the OEM part but could be wrong....

250xb plugs
you should only use champion plugs ql77cc. on certain motors we have seen interferance with the electrical system using the ngk plug.

Work at a Merc dealer.Called Mercury Racing and the say the best plug for a 225EFI, 250XB, and 300 Pro Max is the Champion QL77CC.Mercury does not mention a NGK plug for these motors.

varry well could be the problem with the NGK plugs is the fact that there is no direct cross and the NGK plugs have a different resister than ideal.. if stock was Champion then use that..
I personally have never had any good luck with champion plugs in ANYTHING weather it be a lawn mower, car, or boat.. so I try to avoid thm... could be more a factor of where I am located or where I buy more so than any manufacture difference though..
