View Full Version : 25 hp mercury needs help in going faster

i have a customer who just bought a new mercury 25 that needs to find out how to get more power out of it if possible. Customer has a friend with the exact same boat with an old 25 evinrude that is spanking his tail. Looking for anyone who can possibly help. I personaly am glad the evinrude is winning but am always looking for a challenge.

The Omc's always spank the Merc's.....:D

The best way for him to actually keep up with Omc is for him to
buy one and paint it black and get some cheep merc decals :eek:

Would the 25 Merc has an advantage in prop selection?

Merc sell an 18" Chopper and cleavers in 18, 20, and 22". Does OMC have any performance props for their small engines?

Get him to paint that Merc..White...I have some OMC Decals..
That along should be worth another 10 mph..!! LOL

Tell your Buddy to start with his Hull, Get it as lite as he can..
NOTHING in it he can do with out.. Play with Props..
SetUp..... Why back when.. We used to take the
20hp Merc. " Supper Hurricane " And run them on 10' Hydros..
They were FAST..!!! And a Blast to drive..!!

Thought US1 would have hime cutting the heads, changing reeds, polishing exaust, raise them ex ports, knife edge the intakes, bump the timing, do some slick work to lower end, add NO2 and GOOOOooooooooooo or Blow !

ShipBear..... I ran a 20 H on a 8' Hydro ..... Talk about Zooommm !!!!!!!

Never did get my hands on a 15 SS OMC though.....:(
