Looking at my options for props at the moment, boat is a 21ft Sonic Deep V with a pair of 15in Merc 300PM's still stock at the moment so rev limit is around 6400rpm. 1.62 gears (sportmasters), boat weighs around 2500-2800lbs rigged.

I know a boat of this type is pretty un-common but if anyone has had experince with something similar please let me know what props you ran, I was thinking along the lines of some 14.5x28/30 4 blade Merc Cleavers any thoughts or suggestions on that.

I will have a look wideglide, it's a NZ built sonic not a US boat so different but similar if you get my drift.

Beer30, boats not rigged yet but will be shortly, just waiting on the mids, in the meantime, there is some photos below of the builders own boat with a pair of 225 promax's..

Liquid Force,

What type of speed are you expecting with dual 300PMs?

Be careful,

Thanks for the concern SCT. I understand where your coming from.

Not sure at this point but low 100's would be nice.

Hi!

Do you know how close the 225 engines are? 18/19 inch senter senter? What kind of propheight does he use?

Try our Merc ET's - they have a mild bow lift. 30-32 pitch range. You should run 101 mph with 30 pitch at 6.400 rpms with your gears and 10% slip. I think choppers will lift the bow too much. Or even try Merc Cleavers. Your boat will be a gun!

I am also rigging a V with twin - a Phantom 25 with two Merc 2.5 EFI SS engines. Top speed will be 90-100 mph.

The guy with the 24 is running Hydromotive 4-blades in 26pitch,with all that power you will need at least 30-32 pitch,I run 29 pitch with a single 300 at 96 mph.

Hey James, i could probably organise some lab finished cleavers for you to try of the skaters. 28's, 30's and 32's. worth a try for some direction before laying down a couple of g's on some non returnable props. of course if you mark them you own them:) , im sure nick would let you try his aswell. How far awsy are those mids?
Cheers
G

Hey Grant,

Thanks for the offer, I agree it's a bit of a guess to start with but if you don't mind lending me a set of 30's to try would be excellent. I don't feel like dropping 4k on the wrong props as they are not the easiest thing to sell in NZ...

Whole lot arrives on the 16th of Jan, so it's going to be all on from then, ended up with 2.5 clamps (2in more setback) and custom driveshafts all in one go so hopefully not to much dicking around when it turns up.

If I don't see you before then have a good christmas/new years.

James
