I this the right tuner for a ros 280 2.5?
Or is it a tuner for a 260?
Which is better for my ros 280s on a twin cat?

It is a tuner off a 1992-1993 2.5 260 HP EFI engine ! It will work fine on your 280......It is a progressive rectangle and I prefer it ( the one in your picture ) to the oval because Mercury did a crappy job transisitioning from the rectangle of the tuner adapter to the oval tuner , they tryed to do it in less than an inch and it distrubs the heck out of the flow and without a bunch of grinding at 1 " above and 1" below the flange fit the oval will NOT out perform the one in the picture !
From my experiences.....

The only thing else you may want to do is drill a 1/2" hole on each side of the tuner a few inches down from the flange and on the outside. The 280's have that so that the tuner does not load the motor up as much if the horn opening has water covering it.

Hahaha, I did that to the tuner in a champ mid section on a 15 Ally in the 70's because it didn't want to get on top and Merc's just now gettin' around to it.

And they probably charge $50 to drill the holes. I think I might just look up the part numbers out of curiosity to see how much those holes are costing everyone.
