Lets say you have a music DVD that you just want to listen to on other formats is there anyway to get the music files from the DVD

There is, but it is a tremendous PITA, takes more than an hour, and doesn't sound anywhere near as good. That said, if you still want to do it I'll dig through my cp and see if I can find the software for you.

I would like to know how to do it :)

What is the sound quality lost?

The quality just sucks IMHO. My only other hobby is audio, and I've got some pretty good gear, and it has really never sounded right to me. But then I'm no big fan of digital music to begin with. Nothing beats vinyl. I build custom TT's, like this one:

The software to do it is called Xilisoft DVD Audio Ripper. I think it costs about 30 bucks. I think the new version of it may be faster than the one I used. If you go to allformp3.com there is a ton of info on doing it.
