What is the best lower unit for a Vegas XT with a 2.5 200 Merc?

I would think a big shaft sporty would be best, but a coned stocker isnt bad...

I would be looking for the best combination of performance and durability. My mechanic just warned me that there was a lot of metal shavings in it when he had it apart. He told me that if I need to buy another that I should find one that hasn't been used with a foot throttle. He said that when using the foot throttle people have a tendency to back off the throttle too fast, and that is really hard on them.

A 200 case with some upgrades such as a HD bearing carrier and a nose cone is an idea... Better yet would be a CLE gearcase, I think that would work very well... The Sportmaster's are cool as hell, but you may not need it enough to justify the extra cost... I think that the CLE will run as fast as anything else with your horsepower, and last forever with common sense...
