I am looking for a good performance boating magazine to subscribe to. I had a Hot Boat subscription, but found it is mainly on offshore and larger cats. I have a Hydrostream, and the smaller outboard boats are more of my interest. What magazines are out there that would cover the smaller hot boats?

....you will not find a print mag that can compete with the content on this site, period. Bass and Walleye Boats, and Family and Performance Boats are two pretty good print mags, but if you spend a bit of time looking around this site, you'll find very little desire to spend money on a subscrition for a printed magazine. Also, this magazine is totally interactive, :D . Alan Stoker, John Tiger, Bill Gohr, Jay Smith, Jon Marles, (not to leave anyone out, these were the ones that popped into my head at the moment), )Mercury Marine personnel, a host of professional and amateur racers and engine builders, and the best of the marine parts vendors and suppliers are members here. WELCOME TO SCREAM AND FLY.
I'm dropping my Family and Performance Boating subscription. They ended up following the crowd and featuring way too many boats that cost extreme amounts of money to own. Heavy on the I/O market, light on the OB market. Any magazine I can get through in less than 30 minutes isn't worth my time.................
Now I only get Scream and Fly Magazine and Bass and Walleye Boats magazine......................... ;)

I don't have a laptop, but I do have a wireless home network, with a computer in two of 3 bedrooms, and two in the office/living room. I just don't personally have a need to read S&F, or anything else, in the potty. I don't spend that much time in there. I was merely trying to help out a guy that feels a need to have interesting reading material at hand in da john. :D
That's a bad idea. If I get into a good read my legs fall asleep as it is. Heck, if I had S&F in there , they would probably go numb and I wouldn't be able to leave. You guys need to think these things out better.

I started with Hot boat Quarterly at the newsstand in about 1966. Over the years it somehow morphed through Boating News into what is today Powerboat. I dropped it about 8 or 10 years ago after reading and subscribing for close to 30 years--I could never afford what they wrote about. I switched to HotBoat.
I probably won't renew my HotBoat for the same reason--I will never be able to go out and spend the $100,000 price for the 23 footers they test and write about.
I found home about two years ago when my son got me into Scream & Fly. Lots of guys (and some girls) doing what I love, and the information available is like nothing I have ever seen for hot outboards. If you have a question, somebody in this forum probably knows the answer. If you have a problem, there is a good chance someone else has already had it with the same boat and motor combination. And there may well be a thread in the forum already discussing it. Better yet, some of the best gurus in the country jump in very often and give away what they have spent years learning.
Greg monitors it so nicely that there isn't the bull that many forums have, though as you have seen it still gets drug down into the potty sometimes.
I still carry HotBoat into the john, but this is where I go for information.

I do agree with all the praise for S&F. I guess I was wondering if there is a magazine that is on par with S&F. I knew Powerboat and Hot Boat can't compare with what I get from this site and its readers. I have a Hydrostream, and don't have plans to purchase a big Fountain, or other offshore boat. I was looking for a publication that is focused on our smaller outboard boats, that I might get more information than I already am. I am new to this game of fast outboard boats, and want to soak up any info I can.
Thanks for everything all the S&F members contribute.

I still think Bass & Walleye boats is the best in print and the has best comparison tests around.
That's a complement to John Tiger and a hing for Greg:)

I LOOKED UPBass & Walleye boats, AND THOUGHT IT HAD SOME PRETTY GOOD INFORMATION. LIVING AND GROWING UP ON THE SALT, I DON'THAVE A LOT OF INTEREST IN THE BASS BOATS. I DID LIKE THE PRODUCT REVIEWS THOUGH.
Fast boats is only one of my hobbies. When I want info on other interests such as bikes, tractors, or cars I become aware of the fact that this forum is way above anything out there. Most of us that have been here a while have become spoiled. The amouint of info is unparalleled and I, for one, kinda take that for granted. Best part is you don't have to keep a bunch of magazines around for reference.
