It's been a few years but if I remember right they go in the 3 center mains, knurled end first. You want the hole in the bearing to line up with the hole in the restrictor. Might have to chamfer the bearing hole slightly to get good alignment. One other tip, get some oil restricted pushrods too. My 455 would suck the pan dry with all that done if I kept it to the floor for any stretch of highway but I only had a 6 qt pan. Oh one other tip Mondello(I think) use to make a oil restricter for the cam gear also, might want to check into that too.

I don't know much about Oldsmobiles, but with a mod 455 in a 67 442 project goin' on I've been trying to learn more. This is a great website for Olds junkies:

Seems like Mondello's outfit doesn't have a great reputation around those guys though. They refer to him as Mondoller and are pretty rough on him.

no ammount of oil restriction will keep an olds from pumpin the pan dry above 6K RPM.. and DONOT use ANY high volume pumps.. use a new factory built pump... PLENTY of oil volume in that and you dont want more... also.

I guess I understand about the thoughts on Mondello but he has been around Oldmobiles longer than most and knows what it takes to make them fly and be reliable. Just get ready to spend some $$$. Not my idea of a good hobby anymore :D . Besides you can build a couple Chebby small blocks for the price of a good Olds buildup. Best motor I ever had though was a "junkyard special". '68 Toronado engine with a fresh ring and bearing job and a "mild" Engle cam, ran 7.40's in the 1/8 with a little help from my friend NOS :D . Not too bad for a daily driver.
