reeds???

compressions good on all cylinders,plugs read normal,rpm's off about a thousand,can this be a reed problem?? Thanks:confused:

I'm not 100% sure but I dont think reeds can effect top end RPM. I ran an engine with bad reeds and after replacing them the difference I saw was smoother idle and better mid range punch but it did not rev any higher then it had with the bad reeds , some reeds were actually missing and a lot were broke.

Seems like a busted reed would give you other symptoms Nick. Rough idle and spitting?

Try a new Stator, I had the same problem and it wuz the stator.
