you could check out some of these places :D
i use the thomas register at work all the time to look for new vendors, its an awsome tool.

most places will likely charge you a minium lot charge of 50 bucks or so.

Out here I waz told by our local plating place, they will not anodize any cast aluminum parts, part of the process eats away at the cast material. They would only plate my parts that were machined aluminum.
I had my chit powder coated.

Weren't Mercury's factory competition blocks anodized..? Aren't they cast...

The Merc blocks I am used to are coated with Alodine, that gives it the yellow/honey look. It's a coating used in avation applications a lot.

Think about it, all of the Anodized aluminum I have seen was machined or billet. Heads cast with the lost foam castings have a lot of imperfections ,little holes and voids. That is the problem from what I was told. Those little indentations will get eaten up by the etching process used in anodizing.....I was told that,,them guys do that stuff fer a living, and I ain't quite hardheaded (yet), to convince them fellers to anodize my heads.. :)

the process of anodizing anodizing is actually a corrosive process that turns the outer layer of aluminum into aluminum oxide, inturn creating a hard protective coating.

the guy was right though, cast aluminum doesnt look as nice as billet aluminum or extruded aluminum.

id do the fusion coating as godspeed said (assuming the coating is able to withstand the high temps of a head), i have fusion coated bezels for my gages from eddie marine and they look awsome.

Usually, hard anodizing is only done in clear or black or green sometimes. It creates a harder exterior surface than soft anodizing, which is the anodizing that can be performed in all the "tootie-fruitie" colors that boaters like & what I think he thinks he was inquiring about. Soft anodizing provides little corrosion protection & durability & fades terribly over time, BUT comes in tootie-fruity colors that everyone likes. This lack of colorfast is the reason boat builders have been using powdercoat(or whatever private label version thay want to call it) more & more in the last 5 years or so...Hope this helps. M/C

Are youlooking to redo a set of Merc. Performance head ? If so they are ALODINED not ANODIZED . Any sheet metal guy at your local airport can do that for you . Just clean realy well with ALUMIPREP and dip and rinse. You can also purchase the materials at your local suplier and do it yourself . Rich Martin 018

I realize its under the cowl for the most part but why do car owners trick out their motors? Its under the hood for the most part. Maybe I wanna take my cowl of mid boating trip and show off a nice looking motor!:D
