View Full Version : Reading Ddt Ecm 280

Last day on warrantee, took it in two weeks ago engine fowling plugs bad, They put on new ECM. Put 8 hours on it (just out if break in mode). Took it back for a final check up. 72 faults #1 54 faults #5 -2 ingition failures etc. They said boat was ready. I told them no way. I wanted faults checked out before I took boat back as warrantee ran out that day. Engine seems to run fine perhaps a couple hundred rpm off very top end. What do these faults represent??

Bill,

The ECM will not record a misfire fault unless it sees 25 consecutive misfires. This equals one fault only. You may just have a bad plug but a coil could be questionable too. The ECM also requires a minimum of 11 volts to function. It will also record how many times you hit the rev limiter and the break-in limit. Are they reading the DDT right?

Hi Bill!
Yes, it would be nice if you could give us a complete list of the run history and the fault history just as the DDT displays it. From my experience, the DDT will display a variety of false fault codes if the battery voltage is low during cranking. But I'd sure like to see the specific fault code list.

Wow Randy that is a lot of misfires to record ONE fault!!! I will get the exact readings. I am positive battery is at full charge. How does DDT record hitting the "break in" limiter on a new ECM? I believe that there is a problem with the coil but don't know how to identify it and #1 and #5 cylinders?? I don't understand the conection between these two cylinders? By thw way Randy the set back I need to have you send is for a 20". I will get you guys the exact readings. Thanks for replies

I DO NOT KNOW HOW THE ecm READS THE ENGINE HITTING THE REV LIMITER WHEN IT IS IN BREAK IN MODE. IS THIS WHAT IS CAUSING SO MANY FAULTS ON 1-3-5? I TOOK IN AN A-6 ECU TO HAVE THEM GET READING OFF IT BUT THEY SAID THE A-6 DOESN'T RECORD INFO??

ALL HELP MUCH APPRECIATED GUYS. THX

No One Out There Knows What These Readings Represent Or How A Ecm Records Engine Hitting Rev Limiter During Breakin Mode????????
