We need some company on the water. Now I know, there are some fast boats down there, lets see you show up. We will be leaving Thursday afternoon and driving staight through. Come one come all. :D

I might be able to get away for a few hours Fri or Sat. What kind of boat are you bringing. Aqua Land is on the south end of the lake and it gets kinda rough on the weekends, however the cooler weather has slowed the boat traffic. I'll call Chummy and see if he can bring out his ragged looking old slow Triad with 280 and I'll be in my SS. E-mail me your cell # and I'll do the same.

The ragged looking slow Triad should be able to run this weekend if I can get the pos to float  :D What kind of boat are you bringing? I hope its not one of those gold plated Allisons  There should actually be a decent number of boats out this weekend.

You guys be careful out there..............we were there 2 weekends ago with the temps in the upper 60's and it was still packed with boats. I was hoping for something a little more reasonable but it was chopped up real good in the big water by the dam. I don't think Jim is going to mind but it may suck for the Allison guys.

We're going to do Hartwell this weekend......my supplemental income hates Lanier. Maybe see ya Sunday Jim on Hartwell.

Chummy----- bring your boat up to Hartwell...........for another 30 minutes pull, it's sure worth it.

You guys have a good weekend.

I plan on coming up to Hartwell sometime next year. This will probably be one of the last times I'll run mine this year, time to start winter upgrades to it :D

Be careful of the little old lady with the 24' pontoon boat out there......she's got my old V-4 on the back of it.....she probably has a pretty little flower bed of white gardenias too.

Hey Ron,

No need to worry about seeing that motor out there...

I bought that 110hp V4 from you and it only ran about 3 hours before melting a piston (detonation)... My fault; I guess I should have gone thru and checked all the timing and throttle stops prior to selling it but I "assumed" it was OK since you had been running it. The boat's at our shop and we'll be rebuilding the motor this winter cuz the motor's still just too clean to part out.

I might try to hook up with someone out on Lake Lanier this afternoon. I'll be in a red/black/white "Barefoot Nautique" V-drive skiboat and my name is Tom. Flag me down if you want to!

Hey Tom, you never bought a 110 hp V-4 from me. I never owned one.

Sure it wasn't this one??

http://forums.screamandfly.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72114

Mine was a 90 hp, serial #003891044. Bobby drove up and picked it up from me on December 4th, about the exact same time as the one in the link was sold. I'm in IL and it looks like the 110 came from SC. Bobby said it was going on an old lady's pontoon but maybe you decided to throw the 110 on there instead. All I know is that the timing linkage on mine was epoxied with white epoxy at 28 degrees so it couldn't have moved. Only reason it had even been touched was because the linkage fell apart and slipped back to about 10 degrees back in 1999. I limped home at half throttle just to be careful, since it was loose. Couldn't have even done any damage because after I re-set it, I ran it another 3 years, until it was punched .030" over on all holes with all new innards except rods and upper main in 2002. The throttle stops were never touched, had the factory orange goo.

Bobby's the owner and I hooked you up with him. I don't know why I thought it was a 90hp cuz it's sitting on a stand right where I walk by every day. In any case, it's got a melted piston and going to need a rebuild, but now that you said it's 0.030 over I'm hoping the bores will clean up.

Tom, if your customer managed to cook that motor in 3 hours then they take the all-time honors. It was in perfect shape, Bobby heard it run, compression was near perfect, and like I mentioned above, none of the stops had been tampered with. Always had a first-rate auxiliary filter on it so nothing was in the carbs. Odds are 99% that it was operator error (junk in the gas, loose battery connection blew a powerpack, etc.). I suppose something freaky could have happend like a powerpack going haywire on its own or something, but I doubt it. The public can destroy anything---did they understand that it needed pre-mix because the oil injection was not hooked up (maybe you hooked it back up)? Hate to see you caught in the middle, but since I sold you the motor "as is", your warranty coverage will be advice on the Rapid Craft. :) Hope that at least helps you with that deal.
