The Twin City power boat club is having a end of the year dinner this saturday. The bulk of you guys were a little pissed at the fees charged by the club. I have now been told they would like to have me as director of drag racing for the club. Well after the problems we seem to have with the melding of the two races I need to have some input from you people on what say to these nuts.I myself was not very happy with there telling me about travel money and then backing out of the deal later. My new boat will be done sonn and will start to make my plans for the upcoming year very soon. All right people let's hear it . TACO

I'll come let you chase my transome anytime. Just pick which boats of mine you want to race; 1/4 master, DR20 or new stv RR. >>>>> AND NO! You cannot pick my Bennigington pontoon boat or jet skis. 4`strokes are too quite!:p

Hey Taco,
Based on first hand experience those guys have proven they have their own set of internal problems to deal with before they should even consider putting more on their plates i.e. a drag program. There's differing agendas that are causing some real internal problems with them plus they now have a credibilty issue with the drag boys.
They also have proven that they really dont care about the drag racers and wont do what they say, this is half of what killed the sport years ago.

My suggestion is combine forces with Barefoot Bob about doing drags in the upper Midwest area and get in on his program, his organization already has most everything needed to become a serious player for the drag racers. Based on the show last year he's on the right track.

Speaking with people, I'm not sure any of the Wisconsin boys are really interested in seriously attending any of the drags put on by the TCPBA or whoever they are.

My 02,

WE had 27 boats at barefoot bob's. I just talked to Bob today and we're going to have a board of directers meeting soon and file permits for next year. WE could do this on our own. But it's going to take more help from you people.

T-man!!!!

Did you stop taking the meds??

Seriously I agree with your every word (that's a first, huh!)
Me and you on the same page is why the meds wise crack!

We need to move on and grow, not swirl around the same problems I've been dealing with for the last 20 years. I will not do the "heavy sell" I've been trying to pitch over the years to get the circle guys and us together. We had our chance to work together but it will forever be buried in agendas that are not up to speed with the current state of boat racing. It is time to carry onward and we proved we are more than capable on being on our own. If we combine that with Wisconsin/Illinois and others we will be the place that expands boat racing and not the same old story 20 years on.

You know my feelings. That why I didn't post till now. I wanted people to say their own thing and not just jump on the bandwagon because someone else posted it first.

I go to the mailbox every day and guess what ??????????????

STILL NO CHECK

I guess I didn't support it enough again this year to deserve what I was promised. Wait, that's right, I haven't missed a drag race in thre years with the TCPBA.

I think I've had about all the dealings I need to have with TCPBA.. All I've done was write checks and burn three quarts of gas. I wasn't too concerned about winning any money, but it really sucked that they couldn't cut lose $100 or so for somebody like Balzy that's been making the long drive in his not-too-fuel-efficient rig (get a new truck, buddy..). Seriously, what was their cost to add us to the program? We got a grand total of about 45 mins of water time (between three classes). Finally, they didn't even send me the stickers (that they'd run out of) that they promised when I joined.. Yea, who cares about stickers, but it just seems that's the predominant attitude there.. Unless I see something that indicates things will change, I'm done with that.. Bob's event in New Ulm was better organized, more fun, and better attended than any of the TCPBA races I went to. Hey, I'm sure that group is nice people, but they don't care about drag racing, so why should we spend our money there?

Ripper

I really was impressed with Bob's event. I was at a TCPBA event and it was not as cool as BFB's... (just my .02)

I'm a follower (not just in my boat...) I'll do what ever most others do this year. But I believe between Taco and RP assisting, there will be some kick butt events this year for drag racers... Even us slow ones...

Good luck with the 2006 season...

Are these events like barefoot bob's open to anyone? Would a middle aged fat guy in a V4 Viper be able to make a couple of passes? :)

I would just like to say that I had a great time racing my Checkmate at the BFB drags. I had most likely the heaviest and lowest power boat there. I ran the LR1 class and took one heat. It was my first time racing and although I don't have a drag boat I had a blast and I learned a lot! I think it would be nice to have more "family performance/bass" boats show. Maybe I'm alone on this I don't know. I would like to get a "competitive" boat eventually, but for now due to budget I need to run the Checkmate. Hopefully they will let me run next summer again. :)

For the record, everybody is welcome. We'll find a place for you to fit in. It's pretty informal, and all about having fun -- unless you beat me, then you have to leave immediately (I'm gonna be all alone next year..) :D

For you to figure out were to have a balz to the walz drag race overby you.We didn't have an event from you last year now we have the insurance so now it's time for a race in Wisc. How about it? This way the Ill. kids won't have a reason for not coming. Then all we need it to get into Litte Falls and we have a season. More later TACO out.

Balzy,

I just talked to someone "in the know" and you are going to get paid. Something about they didn't know your mileage. I said "just give him something!". They were saying $.26 per mile which to me is roughly 100 bucks. I had thought we said at the race "give them 100 bucks" but I think it was a miscomunication.

I expect a X-mas card for this Balzy  .

Man, I go away for 2 days and look what happens, phew.
OBoy, where do I start.
OK, here we go.
Randy, it scares me we're on the same page but I'm willing if you are :) :) :)
Do I still have to put up with Jay slobbering all over me and telling me about how I'm his personal hero again???? Well at least he has an intelligent girlfriend to talk to while he's drooling on my shoulder :)
Ahhhhh, yeeessss, the other Amigos....
I'm thinking the word skeered comes to mind here ( No misspelling ) .
I thought Balzy and I discussed this problem 2 6am nights ago???
Sleeve, never is a long time......
Hehehehehehehehehehehehehe, film at 11 :)

PS. At least the Canooks are still on my side ( Notice the correct spelling )

Well boys it's all in fun and the important issue here is that we really don't need the agendas and the attitudes of the circle guys in the cities to have a sucessful drag racing season in the upper Midwest.
Taco, I'm thinking an ideal arena for the Wisconsin edition of the Midwest season would be able to happen in Kaukauna, Wi at the site of the old circle boat races. There's no traffic on the river anymore and there is still a decent launch available at the site along with a bar and an owner willing to work with us and hopefully kick in something also.
Let's all get together at the LaCrosse thing and have some discussions before the sun goes down so we'll remember them :) and see where we can make this go boys...................

Don't get me wrong, this is really neat but was Nick Kaye or the Canadians mentioned at all or was it one of the circle boat guys with a computer seeing the show that put more people on the shore for the drags than all the circle racing combined seeing a trend and trying to make amends that made this happen along with your inquiry??

Hmmmmm, how many months later are involved and how hard were they trying to find Balzy?????????

Sorry, a little bitterness is creeping out because I'm tired of seeing people and groups only doing the right thing after being criticized and finally realizing that it's going to hurt the bottom line and that is their motivator instead of doing what you say you're going to do and never letting it get to this point.............................

I hope you understand that we are just kidding around with Thumper. I am sure whatever he builds for you will be great and you will be happy and satisfied with it. The ribbing is just good old fun between Amigos. I gave him crap cause he never got to get his boat wet this year and that's something the Amigos aren't used to. If you go do some searches you will find that we have been doing this stuff to each other for years. Ya just might find a few that Kaptain Kirk got into too. LOL Maybe a pile of those I guess. LOL again.

I sent you an e-mail and explained this but I thought it would be better if I did it here also so nobody else gets the wrong idea.

Bob,

Yeah, that's me. I've been meaning to get out to a race or two sometime soon. But summer goes too fast, and dissappears into a haze of work and riding (my motorcycle). I did spend some time with my dad on the lake this summer (At over 90 mph...) I have that gene for speed that seems to run in the Palmer family. Hopefully next year will afford me the opportunity to meet all of you guys and spend a little more time on the water. Until then, It's great to be here. Thanks for the warm welcome!
