There is no advantage to using a 2.5 crank, the only difference is the main journals, you have to make sure you use the correct top and center main bearings.

There are a couple diffrent size top journals, juss az with the 2.5 cranks...If the top journal is the same size az the 2.5(which most are) then juss use the 2.5 bearings ....The only time U have a problem wit bearings iz when U put a 2.5 crank in a 2.4!!......The std 2.5 center mains, top, and bottom work wit the 2.4 crank...
Only advantage to use'in a 2.4 crank in a 2.5 iz use'in a crank U got, and not have'in to buy a 2.5 crank!!...I could tell ya it will turn an extra 800 rpm, but then I would juss fall in tha Guru class, wit sumpth'in to sell!!

like to put 2.4 cranks in 2.5 blocks. The 2.4 crank with the steel cages don't have the thrust area to center the bearing cage on the center mains. That style crank needs the outer race to locate the bearing race. I think it's looking for problems in the future and better to use a 150 2.0 crank with the big top main and thrust areas on the center main areas. Just my humble .02 that woun't buy a piece of chewwing gum. :(
