Quick question......hopefully a quick answer:rolleyes:.......Friend recently blew up his 2.0 L 150. Insurance covered a reman longblock from Merc........the longblock showed up and it is a horizontal reed front half..........and his was a vertical reed............I know his reeds will work and I have a horizontal reed intake to use..............but what about his carbs???? Can they be used??? If so, what about jetting???? will it stay the same?
Any ideas?

You should wait on T-Rex for the jetting, but you need to remember that the stb carbs will now feed the port cylinders and vise versa. The vertical reeds feed straight in and the horizontals feed across. I would think the jets would be close, but be sure if they are staggered that #2 & #5 are the "FAT" ones.

I didnt even think about that............I'll look at the jets in the morning and see. I also thought the jet sizes should stay the same otherwise, but I definately want to be sure before I do it..........
Thanks alot SD:)

If Mercury replaced tha virt front, it would be wit a late 2.0, which iz a 2.5 sleeved down to a 2.0...the jetting will change, and U won't ness. have to jet up #2 and #5 az the piston port motors...If it wuz me, I would jet up a couple sizes, for safety sake, then go from there...U may wind up back wher U wuz, but all 6 holes will have the same jets, and not staggered like the Virt motor
