I have a stock 260 offshore that the # 1 injector stoped working. It took out the crank, rod, piston, sleeve, and head. I had started building nother motor so I have most of the parts to fix it excpt for the pistons. If I am not sure which woud be the best wat to go. T piston that are in the motor are side pined and have the numbers on the under side of, fist set above the MALHE 138. The rest set is to the side of Malhe 88P31++. The rings still have some gold coloring on the out side and say IT at the ring opening. The rods are the big set and they not top guided (they move back and forth on the piston a few thousands, I understand I could gt them shimmed ot be top guided?). The rod numbers are on one side 625-5250 and on the other side some sort or and emblem (circle with a V or an M in the middle and a 32. Plus a 2J laying one their side compared the 32. I also have a set of small rods part number 644-818141 on one side and the same cycle with V or maybe M in the middle but it only has s J laying its side down by the crank end. Would these rods work better or at all?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Top pin the Mahles. Get one used Mahle for #1. Run the 141 rods with both thin and fat thrust washers. I can help you with all of that if that’s the way you want to go.

Yea, that’s how you can get a 141 rod to run in a 5250 rod piston (i.e. pre 1994 Mahles). They work fine with one thick and one thin thrust washer on either side of the rod.

Johns correct ( as usual ;) ) the Mahle cheek plate spacing at the wrist pin boss is .100" wider than the Weiscos and unless the Weiscos are machined the 50 series ( 1993 rods ) won't fit. You can use a 41 series Rod ( new style )with the Mahle pistons by using the stock wide washer Pt #12-847524 with the addition of thin washer Pt # 12-812876 ( In other words the Malhe with the 41 series rod will utilise 4 washers 1 thin and one thick on either side or the rod.....and will work fine do it alot ! )

Good luck !

The only bummer is the big washers (12-847524) list for $17 to $28 a piece. What a rip.
