What has everyone used, and which ones work well. I'm presently looking at Photo Impact Pro 10 and for $70 it looks like a good package. I want someting that doesn't take weeks to learn like Adobe Photo shop

use adobe photo elements 4.0. a lot like photo shop with lots of automatic actions. when your ready you have 90+% of the photoshop photo capability for less than $100 less rebates. it also take all the plug-in for photo shop.

I use photoshop elements too (ver 3). I wish I could use regular photoshop, but just not smart enough. elements does a lot automatically and is more amature user friendly. Got it at costco around $70. Not sure whatthe difference between ver 3 and 4 is, but I am sure 4 is probably a little better and a little easier. BTW, elements is Adobe photoshops introduction to photo-editing software.

Yes, for the $100 street price, Photoshop Elements is the best there is. It's very powerful, but as a seasoned Photoshop user, I can tell you that Photoshop Elements does not have anywhere close to 90% of Photoshop's features.

But, Photoshop is has a very steap learning curve, and Elements is a lot easier to adopt, and has more features than most users will ever need.

Or...

You can get a FREE image editor that is EXTREMELY powerful - www.gimp.org (http://www.gimp.org). Don't underestimate this one - it's incredible. Keep in mind that it's really for pros.

Another great image editor that is free and easy to use is Irfanview. Go to www.irfanview.com (http://www.irfanview.com) - it's a very impressive program.

if ya can get over the learning curve photoshop is IMO by far the best out there.. many high $$$$ big business graphics companies have only 1 program suite with 1 type of computer.... photoshop on mac.... the largest printing press in the world(so Im told) is ran with adobe image codes and files to digitize the imagry prior to being engraved on the plates.... (also so I am told)

elements was ment fer the home user and covers 90% of the day to day stuff people do, and the othe 10% is done by the software that comes with any digital camera...

I use Picasa from Google. You can't beat the price and it does a good job.
