What do you guys use for gaskets when you are constantly changing jets. Mercury makes you buy the entire carb gasket set and won't sell the pieces seperately. The drain plug gaskets for lower units fit real nice but they are about twice as thick. When I was in a pinch at the lake I sliced one in half to make it thinner...
Any words of wisdom here...?

I went to the plumbing dept at Lowe's abd found some teflon/plastic gaskets that fit perfect. Never replace them again!!! ;)

Thanks for the tip Dave,
I'm gonna try some o-rings I found at work for the drain plugs on some lowers. They are fuel resistant and about the right size....

The o-rings seem to work fine. I was afraid they would just squish out the side but they don't. I installed the o-rings and primed up the system and no leaks...About 15 cents a piece instead of three carb kits at $12.00 a piece.

Baldad45,
Not sure what you mean...I live in the east end but winterized a boat over by queen street last saturday afternoon.
A fellow Reginian hey, what are you drivin for a boat, if it is fast I probably would know it...
The girl in the photo was a gift from my friends for my stag...LOL just kidding. The identity of this potentially perfect woman remains a mystery to me and the fifteen or so guys that have asked me about her. If you post your email address on this thread, I'll send you the email of her with a large photo. I could probably charge $5 cause she is so damn hot!!!

Glen,
Nice to see a fellow highperformance guy around these parts. My winter layoff starts next week so I won't be around for most of the winter. Feel free to stop in anytime during the spring and summer!

Lower unit drain plug gaskets are the same thing!!!
Also the main jet gaskets (needle valve gaskets) on a 5 hp Briggs and Straton Engine are the same also.
