i have a set of wh carbs that i have tried to run on a ported 96 2.5 200(150lbs comp, aftermarket tuner, drilled midsection).i acquired these with this motor and were told by this person who knows much more about o/b's than i do that they would run great. i did this buildup so i could learn more about o/b's.the motor will not turn more than 6500. i have ran a 15 by 26 drag prop that would scream up till 6000-6500 then drop the nose of the boat. i have since been told that there is no way these will run on my motor. the carbs have wh cast in the top with no # following. whose right.boat is 95 tidecraft inferno.2:1 gearcase thanks for everything

Patches, bout tha only sure way to answer your question iz to try another set of carbs...Carbs do funny thangs...I have sum Yamaha carbs that would only turn 7500 on my 2.0 and Bruce Tripp could turn them over 10,000 on a 2.5...I've heard a lot of myths about carbs and which one works and which ones don't...so if ya can git ya hands on another set and see whats happens...

if those carbs are from a 2.4 ive heard from some folks they wont run up on a 2.5, i dont know if thats true or not i havent tried it myself, but on my old 2.4 at 7000+ the wh-20's i had would fall like you mentioned and i would let off for a few seconds and hit it again and all would be fine until 7000 and the nose would drop, it may also be due to fuel pump "volume" not keeping up and sucking the bowls dry...............just some thoughts there fer ya, skip

if you are running 5 peddle front, get you sum late model 4 peddle cages and glass reeds...the cages are coated with rubber and don't have to touch them...they flow more air than a modified set of 5 peddles(and ain't got to cut nuth'in)

you also want to make sure your intake is cross drilled.
