They also made a 16'. A short lived co. called 'RAT' splashed a mold off of it, also a decent hull, but rare more than likely.

:confused::confused: never got one...
anyhow there was a 16, 17, and 18 action... I think there was also a 19 or 20 that also had a stretched cockpit. different years had different bottoms, some better than others, (the ones that weren't so great were like vectors) The Early 16 Actions are (disputedly) the fastest ones out there. I am biased, but there is a 16 for sale on here right now that ran 122 mph with a diamond 260. :eek:

might I add, I'm far far far from knowing all that much about actions, but I know mine handles and is built 100% better than my vectors. I will never buy another vector as long as there are actions out there. :cool:

Pretty sure the Action Marine you are speaking of is not the same Action Marine that built your boat.
If we could get Gary MacNorius to jump in here, he could fill in all of the details from first hand experiance with the "original" Action Marine. ;)

Im sure they are, I talked to Barney on the phone 3 months ago getting USCG information on my hull. They still sell 18s that have an improved bottom and a a few other changes as well.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who cares its a hobby and when it comes down to it,no performance boat holds its value.Any new built "action" will be better than any old one,just because of updated materials used.
Skatermike,good luck!! :)

I had an action 19 and a vector. Handling isn't even comparable. I LOVED that action. it would always come off the pad gracefully, take big water great and seemed to be more solid than my vector. however i'm not comparing apple to apples. The action was 900 lbs 19ft, the vector was 625 lbs. 17 ft. I have driven smaller actions and they are a lot more flighty in the nose than the vector. But FUN !!
I loved them both but ....................i say ACTION all the way !!!!!
FYI:
My action was an 1984 and was built in Hollywood FL. not Miami :D

Action Marine started about 1970. I worked part time for Barney from 71 to about 78. They built many different boats over the years. I owned a 13' E Production race boat and a 15' hull that we put a custom wood deck and center console on for fishing. There were Actions from 13' to over 20' including race boats, high performance pleasure boats and fishing boats.
