Just bought a pontoon boat trailer used, and the guy also had a very nice looking 35 merc in the garage complete with controls and wiring and helm and throttle and EVERYTHING. I picked that up too!

Question, what year is this? 0A998060

Also, fooling around on Merc Parts Express, there's a few parts that are NLA, like the flywheel. Where does everyone go to buy older Merc parts that are NLA from the factory? Or, if the flywheel magnets fall off and break, can it be repaired?

I'll be pulling my 1960 Evinrude FastTwin 18 off and repowering with the 35, if all goes well with the motor.

Thanks!!

Looks like an 86 by the chart. Looks like your gonna become an Ebay member. One of the best resources for older parts.

Greg has first dibs on the FastTwin! I'm surprised he hasn't spoken up yet. :D

It's a daily driver, but there's no wiring harness on it anymore. It rotted away. I ran some 12-2 from the battery to the starter, and just hold the negative lead against the negative post until it fires. Mucho better this way, no start solenoid or key switch to worry about

I thought getting a mid-80's motor would make it easier to get any needed parts, but it appears this 86 35 Merc might not be any better than my '60 Evinrude as far as that goes. The 35 is in amazing shape. It must have lived it's life under a cover. I can't see any fade on the cowling!
