With the latest news that the Single Outboard Boats will be able to come race with the "OPA" Offshore Performance Association in the 2006 Season for FREE, I would like to compile a list of all interested parties that would like to go racing next year.

This will help a great deal with staying in contact with the "Serious" racers and help illiminate those that may feel they are being harrassed with the promotion of the SOB Class.

So for those that are seriously interested in racing next year, please post your Name, Type of Boat/Engine and your Location so that we can get an idea of what this class will look like for the upcoming season.

I will forward the information to the OPA Officials.

Thank you for your support!

a 2.5 OS Horn moda, some thing that hasen't been hacked on, from someone that I don't have to take thare word for it, a tired one would be ok, or a new rebuilt done by some one reputable, some thing that i ain't guna find any suprizes in when i take it a part, stuff like lightend rod caps, and stupid stuff like that. just some thing honest. like STOCK to me means no mods, none.
I was workin on one, dude said he had it done by "Mr.X" so i called "Mr.X" to varify the story, "Mr.X" said he was not sure who Dude was, if it was a compleat
job, or just parts that he worked on, but if i got the invoice num' "Mr.X" would be happy to tell me just what was done, so went back to Dude and he got Pissed off said I was waistin his time, and "Mr.X's" time. in the hole thing
it mite have taken 10 full mins of Dudes time. I was guna buy it.

Brandon, question for you. What boats is this open to? Is this only a v-bottom thing?

Just wondering. After listening to the race on the net it sounded like something fun to try. And it's A LOT closer than going to do the Blue Water 300. Gonna give that one a try next year.

Oh Well!

If 24's are allowed, I would consider coming up for a race or 2.

If it is similar to the old rules, then a 24 with a single outboard will be allowed. When I raced in the class in the 90's we had a 24 superboat with a 2.4 merc and a lime green banana boat with a v-8 running. If anyone will know, Sharky will know. Hey Sharky, it sounds like I need to start to look for a boat to put together over the winter? Wanna go for a ride?

If it gets a little bumpy Rick, you would have a shot with that boat

Sounds great, I think 24's are allowed I would wait for Phil or Sharkey to Respond and see what they say. I'm pretty sure they are. I hope so because that would really open it up to a lot of boats. I'm really Looking foward to next season!

Air Dog,
I remember the 24ft Bananas powered by single outboards that raced in the AA class which later became US Offshore F class....."Spoiled Banana',
"Gone Bananas", "Buzzsaw" and I think the other boat was "Sundance" or something like that.Would sure love to see your boat and other Bananas in the single outboard class in 2006!

Hey Air Dog, good luck with getting it back together. In the rough stuff the boat ran great, but in the calmer stuff it didn't keep up as well. What engine are you going with.

Scott,

I am not worried about winning, just having fun. Ever since I ran thru the seven mile bridge in your boat, with an S-class on each side, I'm hooked :D

Whats up for Key West, I'll be down Thursday morning.

Hello Outlaw Too,

Not really sure what we are going to have for power yet. I was planning on running a V8 Johnson, but couldn't get it running reliably. I have a 2.4 Mercury that is all stock, but don't think that would be very competitive.

My throttle man is the owner of the "Banana Boat" company and he wants to run twin Mercurys and race in P5 so looks like that may be the route.

I hate to say it on S&F but I would love to convert it to an I/O and drop a 425hp small block in her.

As for single engine racing? Well I can't really decide until they make some rules for the SOB's or P6 class.

Hopefully I can sell my other Banana Boat so I can pay some bills and fund my racing sickness. :D

Waterboy,

Underneath the F-57 on "Spoiled Banana" is an A-57. Wish outboards could make a comback on the race circuit.

From what I saw on the Camden race pics, the smaller boats would hand me my a$$ in the calm water, but once it kicks up, I should do alright.

Either way, everybody is having fun and that is what counts.

Air Dog,
Twin Mercs on your boat would be very cool and competitive in P5.The
"Specialized Racing" guys proved that there is still a place for twin outboards on a vee bottom in offshore racing. That 30 ft Superboat boat screams  and is a real contender in P4.Your boat would be an excellent addition to a already competitive P5 Class.I would not be suprised to see 15 or more P5 boats on the OPA circut next season.Trust me, once you start racing you will hooked.Good luck with whatever you decide to do. :D

Were not looking to race against P5 boats we would like our own class. Hopefully if enough SOB's show up we will be able to run our own class.

Team Specialized are awesome guys and did awesome out there.

work that single 2.4, and bolt it on. then there will be 2 of us at the back, but when it gets rough, its you and me brother :D

I think as long as you can hit the 75-80mph mark you can be very competitive especially in a 24'

and in really rough water i doubt any of the 21's will be going much faster then 65mph max

:D :D :D I like your thinking Rick.

I was a turn 3 judge for the OPA Cape Cod race this year. Can't wait for 2006.

Are you gonna race your Pantera? Did you finally get it finished? Post some pics so we can see the progress.

I really liked the "specialized racing" superboat. That thing has a kevlar hull!

Looked like some really built Mercs on the back.

We took a first place finish in Cape Cod this year. Got the crap beat out of us. No place for SOB's, unless you want toothpics. But OPA will have 3 calm water races next year and 3 rough ones too. I'd say save the SOB's for calm water races so you can make all of them, instead of busting them up in 1 rough water race.Pete P5-50 NOPPER/SUTPHEN

Not Done yet,

I took some time off to work on the house, but getting back to it soon.

I'll only race if its FREE, I cant afford it otherwise, I can handle losing if it doesnt cost me $$$ :D
