I don't think anybody can come close to Rob Sachs .

Well with two in the boat and a fishing load I should be damn close, once I find the right wheel it'll be mid 90's solo with gear. I am not going to touch 97.8 though even stripped. :D

I think Rob sachs boat is probaly the fastest but i dont think i would get out of the electric chair to take a ride from haddam to hartford and back in that missle. Of the group that goes to hartfod i would think Helmut is the fastest. If it were a race from haddam to hartford and back brucie would be back first in my opinion. I would be happy to just not have to swim.

Ah, now I gotcha! It seems whenever you guys are on Sacandaga for that weekend I am usually not around. I would love to run with you guys. I don't care what kind of boats they or I have. I just like to check out boats. Mine won't hit some of the speeds that you guys can hit, but I can keep up (90mph) and I can run that in the rough stuff too:D . I know a couple of guys on the lake that talk all kinds of trash, but always pansie out. I am sure you know the brothers I am talking about. "Jim's boat can outrun your boat in any conditions that Sacandaga has". I loved that stupid statement of his brother. If it were up to those 2 we would not excede 45 mph on the lake because it will cause us "unneeded attention from the authorities".
You didn't answer my question. Bruces' boat can actually hit 65mph? ;) :D
stokernick
10-31-2005, 07:37 PM
90 MPH??? It looks to me like you're flat out and Bruce is hardly on plane @65MPH! Just like someone mentioned this past weekend "do you guys only run your boats two times a year?"I'm into my 11th gal of oil which translates into 400 plus gal of gas,so I guess you could say we run our boats.!There's no restriction on who runs the Romp, just show up and have at it! It's always the third weekend in June!!Rain[Usually]or shine,we don't care!:D

400 gallons??!!!
Wow. I burned that in one day in the 1000 Islands. I travel with mine. Lake Champlain, Lake George (only for the Queens race and Fall poker run), 1000 Islands, Seneca lake etc... I do use mine alot more than Bruce does (but then again summer is busy for him). Bring your boat up to the 1000 Islands poker run. I would like to watch you run that water. :D :D
The third weekend in June is usually my birthday weekend and there are usually 2 or 3 poker runs scheduled that weekend (NYC and Alexandria bay are two of them). That is why I am not usually around for your run. Maybe this year.

man, that really suks.. i am more then happy in either one of my lil' hydrostreams, the vector or the ventura- and they both put ya back in the seat like a big block muscle car on the way up..
hahaha-
actually, i saw a boat that looked exactly like the boat in the pics early this summer and i decided to jump in my boat and go blow by the guy...well i caught up to him(after warming my motor up while i idled out of my cove) and caught up to him and as soon as he saw me coming up on him to pass him i could hear that he had punched it(although it didnt seem to be going any faster, maybe cause the water was a little rough?? ) so i just kept coming by the guy, i got next to him and waved and hit it again and got by him no problem so i turned around and went back towards my part of the lake.
that guy looked soo pissed when he saw my lil 16ft'er coming right by him like his boat wasnt nothing!! and that was with my lil 2.0 motor, not even one of the ones ive built since that one!!
anyways, i just wanted to share that day with ya, nick i hope you enjoyed it a bit.... oh, and trigger happy if ya want a tune up i can hook you up so maybe you will cut down on fuel comsumption a bit....just a thought, but seriously, nice boat too :D ... -sean

well, those are CAR motors not boat motors.. they r meant for a little ole rig like a mini van or something  :D .. to conserve fuel, i guess the best way the best way, for that BOAT anyways, is to cut about half of the extra,un-needed hull off and lighten it up  A LOT..

In a real boat you need those motors. If I had a 16 ft fishing boat then yeah maybe those would be too much! ;) :D

hahah, you aint kidding about having at least a somewhat calm day!!! although over by sinclair point, when i smoked that one cigg style boat in my 16ft ventura it was actually really rough but once i get that thing over 60mph it stays on the tops of the waves-to a point anyways... but yeah, hopefully we will catch up with each other on the lake sometime and get to meet-and of course maybe have a friendly little drag race, well next spring probably although i am planning on being out on the lake a few more times for sure this year,as long as its above 35-40degrees!!
i actually just got a new shop on the back side of northville in maple grove so if you ever need any help with anything, id be happy to lend a hand, also, its on a 2acre piece of property so its going to be a good place for storing stuff, especially when i get another building up for protection from the elements...
oh, and as far as a "real" boat, umm, to me, the streams and other boats of this size and type are as real as they get but then again i love the lake boats and im not really into the big ones for myself-- like any high performance, highly refined piece of machinery they are SWEET, just not my cup-o-tea so to speak...

I am located by Sinclair point on South Shore rd.
Drag race, no. Mine does not just pop up on plain. You would be long gone before I got going. If it was more of a running start then ok. The rougher the better too!!:D I am sure I will bump into you out there next summer.

thats a nice area over there chris.. i used to see a chick that lived right off of "vunk road" i think it was called -across from lodge on the hill so i was over that way quite a bit...
yeah chris, i was kinda joking about drag racing cause from what i have seen it seems most of the big boats take a bit to really get moving.. but of course we are gonna have to give it a run-- wouldnt be right if we didnt!!
one of the things i like most is the put me back in the seat screaming power where when i hit the gas,the boat leaps out of the water and lands on plane, like going 0-80mph real quick and then pull a few more once i get it trimmed just right.. one of the motors i am going to be putting together shortly should go from 0-100mph very quickly and have a lot more put ya back in the seat- :D should be about 100hp more then the modded 2.4 i usually ran this summer   its one of the most rewarding things to see what a motor does after doing some work to it, its great to see my friends reactions as well...
well, again good to meet ya, i havent seen all too many fast boats on this lake so its good to meet ya... later--sean

It's faster than 80, and Jim has stated that we should not be running around over 45 mph on the lake because it will bring unwanted attention to us boaters. He made a big stink about it and he chose not to run in a fun run because we would be going to fast. Hence, the 45mph comment. I'm happy with upper 80's to 90 in speed, and not being limited to where I can run. Others are.

What I said was a 24' Cat will run 90+ over anything the Sacandaga has to offer.... and you interrpreted as "Jim's boat is faster then yours'.... Fine... it is....
That just BS.... again your interpretation of my concern that 20-25 Offshore Boats running the length of the lake together on a Saturday afternoon may cause a problem....
More BS.... the fact is I didn't go because I don't like you Chris.... I don't want to be anywhere around you.... Apparantly nobody else does either because nobody else showed up for your after labor day run did they....
How do you explain Jim running with the guy's at the Rondack Romp this year?
I think most here will testify they all did more then 45 mph that day
I have to assume you are a slow learner Chris... so let me spell it out.... I don't like you & couldn't care less what you do.... I ignored your posts on Speedwake... and I'll ignore you here.... Adios Zappatta ;)
Gary,
Spoken like the BS man you are. Yes we had a big discussion about it on Speedwake. You said "Jim's boat will out run yours (meaning mine) in any kind of water conditions that Sacandaga ever has" And I said BS. So don't try back stepping. I offered him the chance. Most agreed with me.
You and your brother also tried preaching about the speeds of boats running fast down to the dam. And in your posts you and Jim stated that "you would have no part of it being it is not good for our image". But yet you feel it is ok to run fast with the S&F guys? Makes no sense to me either.
I really never pushed the fun run after labor day. Someone else first asked about it and I said I would be up for it. People did turn out and they even ran to the dam, but I had alot of friends up and at the Island so I stayed at the Island. So your statement of "others obviously feel the same way" is naive, but I expect that from you. How would you even know? You barely even venture out into the "big part" of the lake. Come on down where we all hang out and find out who doesn't like who. Any given weekend you can see who has a bunch of people and boats with them and who is usually just by themselves (you). Keep preaching.
It is very obvious I don't like you or your brother, as many on the lake have stated they have the same feelings I do. Not everyone has to like each other, but you need to lose your attitude.
BTW- obviously you couldn't ignore my posts.

Sorry Trigger Happy but as far as boating knowledge goes, if most on Speedwake think that your rig can outrun a 24 Skater(Liberator) on Sacandaga's worst day....well quite frankly they don't know chit. Whether or not Jim wants to beat himself up to prove something that anybody with half a brain knows is another issue. The "big part of the lake"...my God my our friends from Long Island must be laughing their arses off.
The people on this board are pretty fair and accept arguements based on merit...you aren't starting off all that hot.
As for the speed thing...I'll never let the hippies hijack the lake!! Jim probably figures with the group you guys had....what's with all that noise to run 65 mph.

I guess if what you say is true, then Bruce and Mary only have half a brain and don't know chit either, because they have seen what the lake can be like and agreed. I offered to find out.
And when I say "big part" I mean not the Bachelorville channel. So I don't know why your friends would be laughing their arses off.
So I am a Hippie? The group of guys that have run to the dam are great guys. I don't think Bruce would think he or I or the others we run with would be considered hippies or even inconsiderate for that matter. And merit? Just because I am new to this site I have no idea what I'm talking about? Whatever.
"Jim's boat can outrun your boat in any conditions that Sacandaga has". I loved that stupid statement of his brother. ;) :D
What I said was a 24' Cat will run 90+ over anything the Sacandaga has to offer.... and you interrpreted as "Jim's boat is faster then yours'.... Fine... it is....
If it were up to those 2 we would not excede 45 mph on the lake because it will cause us "unneeded attention from the authorities".

Well I know, and I had no problem calling him out after that statement and to run it on a rougher day. His is no real Skater. I have no problem with that. Talk to Bruce. He can fill you in on alot of things that have happened to lead it up to this point. They talk smack and try to sugar coat it. Check on some things before you mention others.

On Sacandaga on a windy day, I will have no problems running him from Sand island to Lanzi's. If he wants a piece of that it is there for him to take it. I said rough water, not smooth water. So I guess I don't know why you can't understand that his boat is not going to run 115 (or 90 for that matter) across those conditons. I will. On smooth water I have no chance. Where I run alot, his boat would not be comfortable in. (1000 Islands, Champlain, etc..) So you are saying a Porshe 911 will out run my truck up the back woods of my house? Each has its own strengths.

The 24 was designed as an offshore boat. I don't know how much Jim runs his boat, but I do know what those boats are capable of. If he has to slow down to 100 he's still getting there first. I guess anybody with any boat could come up with conditions that they could beat someone else in.

I don't think you know his boat then. His boat was never intended as an offshore boat. Now my boating buddies would be laughing at that statement. It is fast (and it is fast) in calmer water. Not the rough stuff. And there are days on Sacandaga that that thing would not even want to come out yet alone run 100mph. Please!
And I'm not trying to "come up with conditions", I am merely saying rough water. Nothing special, just rough water.

I highly suggest you investigate the offshore racing history of the 24 Skater before you come over here proclaiming your expertise. There are actual racing bodies that do something other than go bar to bar and get a playing card. If you need help with resources I'll be happy to spend my time to educate you.
If that isn't enough for you perhaps a map would show you that the Sacanadaga Lake is in fact inshore...so regardless your point is moot.

Like I said his boat is not a SKATER!!! His is not as heavy or built like one! (and I need some education)
And it is funny, you mentioned his was built as an offshore boat, that is what I was commenting on. I never mentioned anything about Sacandaga being "offshore". Good way to put 2 and 2 together. Believe me I don't need any education from you.
No, try "expanding" your knowledge about boats (all kind of boats) and not just smaller outboard ones. There are plenty of others and to be so close minded is true ignorance.

fly whipped ya huh nick?? his boat looks bad ass when its running fast, it just really looks like it runs/rides awesome. the guy didnt run the seebold unfortunately cause he was on a tight schedule and had to get back to 1000 islands-- although i have been promised a chance to drive it cause he is coming back for the romp!! the boat is just beautiful and it is in amazing shape, at 500lbs i bet its gonna fly!
i was so pissed i wasnt ready when i heard and saw you guys go by, but i had to mount my powerhead to another mid plate, swivel and mounting bracket, bolt on the mid section and lower and then bolt it to the jackplate and hook everything up- oh and i had to put the reed cages back on,switch carbs and bolt the intake on-ph and cut out a gasket as well since i didnt have anymore 14petal intake gaskets so there was a little bit of work.. i put it in this morning but it was nothing like yesterday- that water was GLASS yesterday!! it was pretty rough today but i had fun blasting around for a while.. this other mid is a lot louder as it has the big section cut out like talon2.5 did in that one thread..also i like the way this mod-vp CLE handles even though i dont have the engine mounted as high, i guess ill have to put a cone on it with lwp's over the winter..

I know Shane and his Skater. He knows me and my boat. His boat runs well, but it is a Skater! Jim's is not a Skater! You guys can't seem to catch on too easily. I would rather be in Shanes boat in the rougher stuff than Jims. Jims is lighter. Plus I think I would trust Shanes driving better as well.
Caroga, good place for you. I find it funny that a few of you take a battle between me and someone else and turn it into a Outboard vs "car motor" battle. True redneck ignorance. I did not start bashing anyones boat. You guys felt the need to do that.

It's not the boats fault it's the owner.

I guess I'm taking the Laser off the market so I can keep up to you guys and watch the fireworks. Call me crazy but the only time I considered Sacandaga a rough lake was in an MX15. A 24' Liberator on Sacandaga is a luxury cruise compared to some of the boats JH used to run up there. Sounds like some one is bringing a knife to a gun fight. I hope my grammer was OK.

One thing I know is we all leave our egos at home and have a good time.No one on this board has a ''superior than thou'' attitude,we all help each other and respect what evryone does to promote safe, fast boating. There is a zero tolerence for arrogance!!IMHO:D :D :D :D :D

Have to agree with Stokernick. I was surprised at some of the content of this thread. My experience with S&F members has been great, performance boaters helping each other etc. We should probably get back to fighting speed limits, trading information, drinking and organizing events.

Organized events....you've been holding out on us for 5 years. I wanna see that Laser....I've been trying to get all the "gotta get a boat" guys I know to go look at yours, but of course they were just talking.

Thanks for the good press in regard to my boat. I guess deep down if I really wanted to sell it I would have put a reasonable price on it. There is just something about that little Merc screamin' at 6500 plus RPM that is hard to live without. I missed the Romp this year but will be there next year if I still have the boat. :D
