I've got a chunck O firewood stuck in my Nordskog steel speedo p/u. Anyone know of an acid I can put into the top of the p/u that will eat the wood and not the metal??

Acid attacks wood very slowly if at all. rick

I ruined that nifty nosecone speedo pickup on a L&S cone by breaking off a drillbit trying to get a piece of wood out of it. it was naturally a tiny bit, and apparently pretty brittle.

I have to do that all the time with bass boats. They ussually fill the hole in the lower unit with wood. I take a small drill bit and work it by hand to remove nay wood that is stuck in it and then blow air thru the top to blow the wood out from where it came. Greg

I twist the bit by hand do not use a drill unless you can controll the speed. you need to turn it very slow and be very careful. you gonna have fun getting that bit out./ I have a very thin pair of neddle nose pliers that i have got them out with or you may be able to use a small tap extractor and only use 2 flutes. One for a #8 tap may work depending on what size bit you broke off in there. Greg

If you can take it off try heating it up so the wood dries out and shrinks. Or put it in boiling water, the wood should become very pliable so you can remove it, maybe blow it out.

After two broken drill bits and 120 psi, I finally got it!
